Painting tip:

I haven't (always thinned my paints) in the past, though I've started to a bit (esp when I want to wash something in black).

Speaking of old paints, I'm kind of wishing I'd kept some of my old paints that were still semi-good. I could have converted them all to washes and gone nuts. ): Oh well, less crap to take with me when I moved...

Unless its completely dried and a solid rock it can be fixed. I brought back some paints I had from when I was 16 (Im 25) and they look better now then they did back then. Alas, they're about seven states and a landfill away now. If it happens again I might think more carefully (and I'll probably not be leaving them unused for so long). They were all the old Citadel screw-top paints, and there were a couple that had dried shut around the lid and I had to open them with two pairs of pliers. That wasn't fun.

Thanks for the idea on the soap!! I've been hearing a lot about using that to help thin out washes too. Interesting idea, even if I'm not entirely sure WHY it's a good idea. I'm going to give it a shot next time, probably with making a wash since I use them so much.

Painting tip:

Candroth: I believe the soap is added in small quantities to the water to help break the surface tension and allow the wash to flow and pool properly. Haven't made any washes, personally, but that's what I've been told.
