Big Choppa conversions?

Hi there,

I am currently working on my AOBR nobs and I was thinking about converting few of their choppas into Big choppas. Here's what I tried so far:

(just added a spike to the tip and extended the handle, but hey, its my first try ever)

Still I'm afraid the choppa is not big enough So I'm wondering... Should I get more AOBR nobs and use blade of the same choppa to make it double-edged? Or perhaps I could use the standard boy chain-choppa from boyz box (http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Image:sprue-ork-boyz02 first choppa in the second row), but wouldn't it look bit too weedy then?

Any suggestions (or pictures of own converted big choppas) are welcome!

Making it doulbe-edged would certainly make it look bigger. As for my AoBR nobz, i just say they are big choppas, they are bigger than the standard boyz ones.

They are a great deal larger then a normal axe, so easily could count as a big choppa. I think yours is fin as it is. If you want to make it bigger and doubled edged go for it.
But on a side note, did you spray your minis with gloss paint?

Re:Big Choppa conversions?

Thanks for the advice; I might leave it as it is then and just think about another big choppa, this time double-edged

And I only painted it with Chaos black undercoat so far... The camera flash made it look "glossy"

Yeah, I agree with the notion that their choppas look bigger than the boyz' weapons, but also I dig the simplicity of your conversion. A longer handle says well enough that it's a two handed version, but more importantly, it looks more dangerous.

Big Choppa conversions?

I'd call that a big choppa. It doesn't have to BE huge, it just has to FEEL huge. Spears and glaives are big, 2-handed weapons. They're also effectively daggers and short swords on big poles. Make it look like it takes 2 hands to wield properly and it'll feel like a much bigger weapon. I think you've managed that simply and effectively.
