Staying at 36" and shooting stuff with more shots to mitigate BS3 is amazing IMO.

EML. Shuriken cannon are only 10 points cheaper than scatter lasers and are FAR worse weapons. Anything they field is an assault weapon as Tri mentioned, as long as you are using guardians at all, give them a solid weapon.

I'm not sure how they could slow you down. All weapons on Guardian Weapons platforms count as assault weapons, so you can move and shoot with them in the same turn.
