MSU in 40k or Feth kill points!

For tournament play....

We all know that kill points will have a factor in 1/3 of the games played.

I've been thinking/wondering if MSU tactics can be valid in the game even in a kill point game.

If you have an army that is trim on kill points and doesnt give them up easy, its safe to say that you will have large units and/or large point cost units.

If you go total MSU and wind up with something on the order of 20+ kill points in an army including Transports....there are only so many units of yours per turn that the army that is slim on giving up KP's can take out per turn, and each of those units are a very slight peice of your total list. Basically, you dont feel losses nearly as much and your army will lose very little potency with each loss.

Tack mechanised tactics to MSU and you have armies that (played correctly) could be nigh unbeatable in objective games and still hard to survive against in Kill point games.

It's something I've been mulling over in the past couple of days especially with the 'ideas' of these new "maximum overdrive" threads. I might start testing the theory again with my sisters in the near future with the Immo Spam list that I used to use a couple of years ago.

It can work, because the opponent can kill only so many things.
But it does make enemy target priorities easier to distinguish.

In addition, what you are suggesting takes up alot of space... generally resulting in much congestion.
When that happens, I generally look for charging multiple units, and that's when things get messy for a MSU army.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The idea of MSU army is to get more special weapons and focus more on offensive power and throwing defensive qualities out the window.

So... it can work, just like anything, but this is so extreme that I feel it's win big / lose big.

Okay, who can do the "maximum overdrive lists?

Pretty much all the marines with the exception of maybe blood angels. Chaos can do nasty MSU rhinos with tons of special weapons. IG can do their typical mech vet spam, Eldar can do DAVU spam or Vyper/Warwalker spam. DE basically does it everytime they take to the field. Anyone else?

MSU is not strong in a KP mission.
