Question about Predators

Boxing day is tomorrow here in Canada and I had a quick question for those who have purchased a Predator kit. Would it be silly to buy a Predator and build it so I could use it for a Rhino, Razorback and a Predator? If not I suppose I'll just get a Rhino kit for my starting army.

Question about Predators

However, a Predator kit does come with both roofs and sponson doors. They're easily interchangable as a Rhino.

Question about Predators

You'll probably need magnets as well, for ease of swapping.

Question about Predators

Both Predator and Razorback kits come with all the standard Rhino parts, plus the sprues for the weapons specific to that model. If you get a Predator kit, you can magnetize it so it can be used as a Pred or a Rhino (or a Razorback, should you buy the Razorback upgrade sprue separately). I just magnetized a Pred for weapon swaps and it's certainly doable. I'm an amateur and I pulled it off. If you want to go beyond weapon swaps, simply magnetize the hull in a few spots that match up with magnets on the sponsons or doors, depending on which variant you're fielding. As for the roof, if you glue the two panels of the rhino hatch together, you don't even need to magnetize anything (although you certainly could, for added security), as the hatch/turret mounting panel both sit comfortably on top with no further securing. Heck, buy or build a big ol' missle rack, spin the Pred/'back turret mount around and you can make it a Whirlwind, too. It's a bit of work, but it's a cool project and the added flexibility can't hurt, especially in smaller armies.
