Well, for starters, do you have the WOC army book? If not, get it-it contains the information you need to play that army.
Secondly, do you want your army to follow one god (such as Khorne), or worship a mixture?
I don't have any experience with WOC personally, and I'm sure others can help you better than I can. But it seems ou have a good foundation-two heroes (though Archaon will have to be a regular hero in smaller games), some basic fighting units, some expendable meat in the form of the warhounds, some fast marauder horsemen to nip around the flanks, and a hard-hitting knight unit.

And yes, it's best to glue the weapons on .

Warriors with shields + 2nd hand weapon, or shields + halberds are both good builds.

Marauders can go with a variety of builds: hand weapon + shield in large blocks, flails or Great weapons in small blocks. Horsemen with flails or throwing axes.

Best recommendation would be to play out 4-5 more games while building the army. Play the warriors without arms & just use the marauder horses. I'm sure your friend will not mind & at the end you'll have an idea of which build works for you.

I'm sure your friend will not mind & at the end you'll have an idea of which build works for you.

I think this is good advice until you get a grip on how the different weapon options work and what you want in your army.

I will however step up to the bat and staple a list together out of your loot:

L: Archaon = 685
H: Sorcerer - 2 dispel scrolls, level 2 = 170

C: 12 Warriors - MoS, full command, halberds, shields = 244
C: 12 Warriors - MoS, full command, halberds, shields = 244
C: 19 Marauders - MoS, full command, flails = 125
C: 5 Horsemen - MoS, musician, flails, light armor = 96
C: 5 Horsemen - MoS, musician, flails, light armor = 96
C: 5 Warhounds = 30
C: 5 Warhounds = 30

S: 5 Knights - blasted standard, full command = 290
S: 5 Knights - MoK, musician = 240
-------
2250

First off, I don't really suggest using Archaon, as he's really expensive for a normal game, and is a special character, which may or may not be something you like (as in, he's not your own character, and is also pretty different from the 'normal' characters you could learn with). You could easily use his model for a chaos lord on daemonic steed and give him totally different gear, but for now I figure it'll be cool to let the big man play himself and tear things up.

The list is supposed to be pretty newbie friendly, with lots of slaanesh marks to make your core pretty much immune to psychology, Archaon + his swords (the unmarked knights) for an uber-hammer, and then the khorne knights for another meatgrinder unit. You've got some dogs to help the frenzied guys keep their pants on, and to do doggy things like get thrown under enemy units. A sorcerer scroll caddy backs up Archaon for some more magical protection, but depending on who you go up against you might be able to cast a spell too - Archaon is a level 2 wizard, so with his little buddy here you've got 6 pd to work with, which is slim but not totally worthless. The marauders can hold the sorcerer for a 5x4 formation of max CR, or can rank up 6x3 on their own for an extra attak.

You've got loads of other options though, particularly if you drop Archaon down to a normal lord on demon horse. I didn't fit in your khorne champ because I didn't want to mark the warriors with khorne - which is a strong move for sure, but another frenzied unit to worry about. On the sorcerer, you can find an eevil sorcerer model REALLY easily, from GeeDub sure, but also Reaper, etc, etc.

- Salvage

They're allowed to carry both halberds and shields. This way, when being shot at, they still have shields. When in combat, they can choose between using their shield for a 2+ save, or the Halberd for S5 attacks.

I like 2x6. The reason I shy away from large bock is that you're paying a lot of points for 1 point of combat resolution, which could be spent on a support unit. I also swapped a scroll for the power familiar, for a little boost when it's time for offensive magic. 1 scroll + 4 dd is weak defense, but meh.

Warhounds are good for:
- sitting in your home quarters, nabbing +100 VP (or keeping the other guy from them)
- jumping into enemy quarters, nabbing +100 VP (or keeping the other guy from them)
- baiting enemy troops forward by fleeing when charged (especially with frenzy units)
- diverting enemy troops by moving up, angling and letting themselves be charged and broken/killed, but exposing the enemy flank in the process
- charging units with hatred (dark elves) in the flank, losing and running, but forcing the haters to pursue them, exposing their flank or drawing them out of position
- harassing enemy war machines and/or killing them
- cuddling with small missile troops (10 bowmen, etc)
- drawing out fanatics and smothering them if needed
- screening your units by blocking LoS to them, by standing between something worthwhile and enemy shooters / casters
- blocking your own frenzied troops from charging, by standing in front of them when frenzied charges are carried out (if the frenzied troops can't make the charge, with dogs in the way, then they don't have to declare the charge)
- and more things that involve the dogs dying, but @ 30 points no one cares

When you're done screening with the dogs and want to charge, you can often declare a junk charge with the warhounds into a unit nearby and the knights behind them into the unit you want to kill. Move the dogs first (they'll lose later on, but ah well), then the knights' path is clear.

Warriors with halberds & shields (like most all fantasy guys with two-handed weapons + shields) can carry both weapons, but in combat you must choose which to use: halberds for S5 attaks but 4+ saves, shields for S4 attaks but 2+ saves. In my mind, this mostly comes down to whether or not I'm charging in, in which case halberds can seal a quick win, or not, when I'd go shields to survive the ordeal and then kill. But then I can't roll dice very well, so 2+ save is rarely passed up. Shields also work against ranged fire no matter, so the warriors get a 3+ against shooting, even if they never use the shields in combat.

- Salvage
