Well apperently we here in the South don't function well in the icey cold that our Northen brothers live cheek to cheek with all winter.

Schools are closed,business are closing and cars are slipping and slidding merry hell all over Interstate 285 (27 car pile up...so far,with many more minor accidents).
Things sure get FUBARed here in Dixie when a little snow enters the picture.

It's not much better here in Kansas City. Cars spun out all over the place, trash not picked up, no salt on the roads because it's too cold for it to work. Temps in the minus teens. I've been in hibernation model ever since thanksgiving. Can't wait for spring, damnit!!!

Oklahoma City and Tulsa schools shut down because of cold.

The heater in my house is struggling to keep up with the falling temps.

Have they been by to plow your street yet in KC? They just did last night. The first time since Christmas. I guess Lurch we have for a mayor decided to get off his butt and make his overpaid and underworked public works employees to do our street. Kind of a suprise to find three feet of ice filled snow bank at the the end of my drive way this morning at 5:45. I am amazed that I didn't set off the airbags in my car trying to push through it.

Yeah, Atlanta goes bat-**** crazy when the snowflakes trickle down. There's pages and pages full of closed school systems all over northern Georgia, and I haven't heard of anyone getting more than 2" of snow even in the mountains. Guess everyone was fearing another blizzard (Because the one seventeen years ago was so bad... (man I feel old now)).

The reactions have been some what ammusing,I'm not a native to Georgia (only been here three years),so I'm not familar with the blizzard 17 years ago,but I have to addmit it's funny that 1" to 2" of snow has caused such a panic.
My yankee GF (from New York) is having a good laugh at all of us poor "good ole boys" who can't get our "big ole trucks" through a "snow flurry".

I am orginally from upstate New York and snow does not bother me. But when I was stationed in Washington DC I saw a man stop his car, get out and walk in the middle lane of I-95 near Springfield when it started to flurry out. It is only solid water not cold, white, falling death from above.

I did find it amusing that my parents called earlier in the week wanting to know what ever happened to the sleds that hadn't been used in almost 20 years and used to be in our basement. Because less than 2" of snow would make them usable for my little cousins... right...

It is interesting how reactions vary from region to region,as you stated it's 16 degrees where you live and it's business as usual,but down here the state goes nuts.
Obviously it's about what your familiar with,I had a friend who was from San Francisco visit me in New Orleans several years ago,her visit was in late july,she and I had walked about a dozen blocks when she just colapsed from the heat and had to be taken to a nearby hospital,she later asked me "How we survived in such a brutaly hot area?"...guess we all have our weather related Achlies heal.

Living in an area without snow I know I'd crash if forced to drive on icy roads. At least in the Nortth people have the skills to (sort of) survive.

It takes little bit of time to get used to.

I would suggest trying to rub them back to feeling, but you might just pop them off.

Yeah it actually got down into the 50's!
