I've seen tutorials on using card stock (cereal box material) around the tops and bottoms that make reasonable water tanks. Probably the best thing to do with them is to use them as the core of another terrain piece, as with the soup can terrain from Black Gobbo. It is easy to score then flex to break and cut to shape.
Could reasonably construct complex details a bit like making card models
