The only thing I think it needs is some sort of color on the bow. Either highlights or some decorative paint swirls. Thanks for pointing that out Clthomps that gold cap is painted the color has just got completely washed out in the pic.

@4M2A - I am very inclined to agree with you, a friend has just suggested highlight the bow with and Dark and Mid tone brown then washing it black I wonder whether that would help matters.

I chose this model precisely for this reason to make sure my method of painting bone was a)doable and b) looked nice, nearly all the other 20 or so archers have the headdresses and quivers and other fancy gubbins stuck on so I will have a play around with one those models tomorrow and see how it comes out on those.
