For all of the replay's the league does to make sure the 'call was right', they let a blown pass interference call determine the winner in overtime. The Saints receiver pushed off the Viking player, fell down and got the call. Where is the replay official in that crucial moment? I know the NFL doesn't let those plays get reviewed because they are 'judgement' calls, but so are the other plays they do review. Very bad.

Minnesota outgained New Orleans 475 - 250, but still lost. I live in Chicago and am a Bears fan. I had no hat in this ring and just wanted to see a good game. Shame on the NFL. The superbowl won't be a contest. I don't like the Colts for what they did at the end of the year by not playing their regulars, but I don't see the Saints having a chance.

The pendulum swings both ways. The Saints had over 100 yards in penalties. The Vikings didnt capitalize. Did you see that bogus call for roughing the passer? The very next play Farve got hit even harder and later after the pass and they didnt call it.

Remember that little prediction I made last week about Favre seeing the roof of the Superdome alot.

All joking aside,it was a great game Fate, and yes turnovers really killed the Vikings.

True but it was a bad call in OT that turned a NO PI play for pushing off against the Vikes into a holding on the Vikes.

Would have made it 4th down at like the 38 instead of 1st down at the vikings 21.

I actualy agree with you,their was a lot of "bad calls" on both sides,however it was still a very good game,and what can I say...I was quite happy with the outcome.

I'm not sure why people are talking about a push off. To push off someone there has to be a definitive pushing motion, and the Saints receiver never made obvious contact with the Vikings defender.

The Vikings player did indeed interfere with the Saints defender as he did not look back for the ball. However, the flag should not have been thrown as the ball was uncatchable. It wasn't a good call, but I've seen worse made this season.

I don't know about uncatchable. It looked somewhat feasible so the refs may have thought that it could've been caught if the viking defender hadn't "interfered". A lot of people near me were talking about Favre taking "late hits", and most of the ones I saw were late, but the defender was in the air so a change of direction or a sudden stop wasn't going to happen.

Regarding officiating, when was the last time you saw the "uncatchable" call waive a PI penalty? It just doesn't happen anymore.

Similarly, offensive pass interference is rarely called. You can get away with a lot as long as you keep your arms in close when pushing. Extend your arms fully and make it obvious -- Seattle WR in Super Bowl XL -- and you might get a flag. Basically, it's hard to complain about not getting one of those to go your way when your own WRs have probably been doing it themselves all season. The deck is stacked against the defense in the NFL.

Anytime you have that many turnovers, I don't think you have much leg to stand on complaining about the refs.

I will take the opportunity to say I told you so about Favre. There's a reason the guy -- great as he's been -- hasn't won or been to a Super Bowl in what, 13 seasons? He's too prone to the bad pick in big playoff games. He's done it year after year after year, and probably doesn't get criticized enough for it.

Saints have the karma thing going on, but the Colts just seem to grind out wins in a workmanlike fashion. Neither defense is top-notch, but I think I like Indy's ability to put Brees on his butt more than I like the Saints' chances of getting INTs vs. Manning. So although I'm strongly rooting for the Saints and they were my pre-playoff pick to win it all, I'm having a hard time betting against Manning and company.

Edit -- And a 12 men in the huddle penalty at that stage of the game?!? Vikes <> poised.

Agreed Gorgon. Favre has always collapsed in big games. The viking fans were willing to forget his pick when he played for the packers against the giants, but he did it again.

Also, as others have said, you can't fumble like what, 6 times, losing three, throw two picks, and still win. You win the turnover battle, you win the game.

The Saints didn't win, the Vikings failed to win. If the Vikings hadn't coughed it up five times the Saints never would have been in the game. The Saints capitalized on the Vikings screw ups but they had to have those screw ups to win.

I'll be rooting for the Colts in two weeks.

I don't mean to be jumping on you for this, but I see a lot of that "...take away X and we would have won" talk among sports fans anymore and it drives me up the wall. A loss is a loss. Man up.

I'll have to say that the Colts have the better chance of winning, with their losses coming from games that they didn't play their starters while the saints played an iffy game against the vikings. However, I predict a boring game seeing as Brees and Manning aren't very exciting to watch.

They made five turn overs. There aren't exactly a lot of teams that can win after coughing the ball up five times. Take a look at the numbers during the game, the Saints were being out played. Look at the teams before the game, the Saints should have lost. Hell, look at the simple fact that the Vikes coughed it up five times and it still took an OT field goal for the Saints to win. There's nothing incorrect about pointing out that one team was severely outclassed and out played and was only in it because the boys in purple apparently coated their gloves in lard before taking the field. It doesn't change the fact that the Saints won but ultimately the Vikings beat themselves.

Well, first of all thank you captain obvious for pointing out that a loss is a loss, I've often found that concept confusing. Your rapier wit has finely honed that point and it is clear how you earned your promotion from lieutenant. I'm a Bucs, Colts, Packers fan so I had zero personal stake in this game. I called it like I saw it, the Saints managed to hang in there long enough for the Vikes to beat themselves. I love football because you don't get five or ten more games to even things out like baseball, you get one game and you're done. On that day the Vikes couldn't get it done and rightly loast.

The Saints were second in the league in takeaways during the regular season. Its a common misconception that turnovers are caused by offensive mistakes, but that's rarely the case.

The Vikings could have won it in regulation with a field goal if it wasn't for the bone headed 12 men in the huddle penalty.

Tyrr has it right. Twice the vikings were inside the 10yard line and 2 of their turnover occured inside the 10. That was AT LEAST 6 points the Vikings gave up. Had they not lost any inside the 10 and gotten even just 3 they would have won it.

12 men in the huddle was a bad penalty but Favre admitted had he ran it might have gotten Longwell inside of FG range. Ideally you don't want to rely on a 50+ yard FG to win but had Favre gotten the original 5 back it would have put longwell at 52 or 53 yards out. Very long but he has made FG's from as far out as 54 yards so not impossible for him.

Ultimately the 2 turnovers inside the Red Zone fethed the Vikings. All 28pts were from touchdowns so it's safe to say had the Vikings not turned the ball over twice in the Red Zone they would most likely have won by 14 (actually more as one of the turnovers led to NO tying it up so realistically the Vikings SHOULD have won it by a score of 42 to 24).
