The battle scenes seemed to range from decent, to not remotely believable, to laughably bad.

And I never saw the payoff for the whole AdMech sub-plot detour. Seemed way too deus ex machina with no really gripping payoff.

I did, however, like the dig the author got in at GW's style of sculpting. Read the description of the alien statues up in the mountains and tell me he wasn't describing GW's Catachan sculpts...
