				<title>Popping the Land Raider as IG</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Hey, I'm up against a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(22);'>CSM</span> player who runs a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>LR</span> with Zerkers and Kharne in it, and I play as <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span>.  I've only played him once, in my first game, it got to me and devastated me.  I'm planning to use 2 heavy weapons squads w/ lascannons (he runs a mech <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(22);'>CSM</span>, 1 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>lr</span>, 2 rhinos, lots of inf inside), and a Medusa.  I wasn't too sure on the Medusa until I noticed the BBS is <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(1);'>2D6</span> for armor pen.  I plan on using Bring it Down! on my heavy teams to <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(126);'>tl</span> my lascannons, and using the BBS to hopefully kill it.  Any suggestions?  Good?  Bad?  <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(40);'>FYI</span>, this is a 1500 point game. <br /> <br /> EDIT: I forgot to add I have meltavets in a chimera.  Just wondering, I'm giving them scout, so should I outflank them or have the chimera move 6" before the game starts and move up, blowing up the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>LR</span>? ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Gonna need more than 1 unit though. 2 landraiders are gonna smoke them with their lascannons before you get in range. I say max out your troops, 2 melta vets, 2 plasma vets and 2x 30 man blobs with lascannons. Comes in at 1070 points (without the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'><span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(338);'>ccs</span></span>). <br /> <br /> Use the plasma vets chimeras to screen the melta chimeras and then pop smoke on the plasma chimeras. At least 1 should make it through, and if they don't then at least you have have 6 lascannons. ]]></description>

Which I need for heavy weapons.  I load up on russes and a medusa.  Also, he only has 1 land raider, he also runs 2 rhinos, which I can take out with ease.  The plauge marines inside, not so much, unless my russes hit them.  Which they do, a lot.  ]]></description>

Manticore (D3 5" hits with S10, no comment)<br /> 3. Paskquisher (Vanquisher with Pask and Lascannon, costs 220 Pts. but has no problem to get through the armor with <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(14);'>BS</span> 4 and a S9+<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(1);'>2D6</span> penetration gun and a S10 Lascannon, add in <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(330);'>MMs</span> if you like, but then the tank already costs 250 Pts. However it might be worth the points as you do not only get rid of the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>LR</span>, but also send these pesky Assault Terminators or Berzerkers running through open ground)]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ manticore....mine has had the most success in popping <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>LRs</span> open among all the other options, with the bonus that it tends to survive as well (in my av12 spam list at least)...meltavets may get the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(111);'>raw</span> end of the stick from the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>LR</span>'s passengers and colleagues the turn after....<br /> <br /> a cheaper option than meltavets is a melta armed <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(331);'>PCS</span> unit....that's 4 meltaguns, which gives you roughly the same chance to have 2 meltaguns hit versus a 3 meltagun vet squad,and you might get lucky and get more hits...and for a cheaper points cost...]]></description>

I've been up against 3 plague marine land raider lists and my melta vets squad(s) (well, technically one is plasma, but that's wandering off the point) don't do well at all.<br /> <br /> They get knocked out of their vehicles early on, even if I do get near they can always just jump out and go stabby before I get in 6 inches. (and by then, I've used my smoke save).]]></description>

After the Rhinos die the battle cannons would rather shoot at the disembarked troops than the Land Raider. A battle cannon hit has a small chance of bothering the land raider but isw much more effective against other targets.]]></description>

Three BS4 meltas should at least immobilize a Land Raider.<br /> <br /> That leaves his 700 point unit stuck hiking across the table while your other 1300 points of army blows apart his remaining 800 points.]]></description>

Scout move 24" making sure you are 12" from your target land raider and turn valk side on, at he start of the first turn proper disembark 10 vets from valk with demolitions special skill 2" disembark+ 6" move followed by 6" charge = 10 autohitting melta bombs bye bye <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>LR</span>.]]></description>

Let them eat 10 guardsmen, then rapid fire into their face. Rinse/repeat. ]]></description>

The main problem wasn't the Chaos player, his Zerkers had to run across the field and get decimated, eventually.  I was paired up with a Tau guy, and we held half of the objectives and contested a third from four for most of the game, but the Chaos Dark Eldar ally used plasma cannons to wipe them out.  Then turbo-boost onto the objective on the last turn.  Still a fun game.]]></description>

Two shots, two kills. An extreme example, but I have used two squads vs a couple of mech lists to good effect. Hurts a bit in an Kill point game, but usually an even or better trade.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Ignore it, focus on the rest of the army.<br /> <br /> The beserkers inside are useless until they have something to charge.<br /> <br /> Focus on lascannoning the rhinos and kicking out the squads inside, let the landraider get close then give him a target to charge, a cheap squad or something. Whatever.<br /> <br /> He'll butcher the squad then consolidate, which means he's standing in front of your army on your turn.<br /> <br /> Shoot down the squad and get your meltavets into range of the landraider, which would have had to get close to discharge the beserkers.<br /> <br /> once dealt with you then have the opportunity to pick apart the rest of his army at range.]]></description>
