Whatever, next week its 2500. I don't even know if i have that much points lol, so I'm going to knit out random, unexpected units. Idk if this is the right forum to put it under.. but , anyway any random crazy ideas no one will expect?

So far, im thinking.. 2 squads of 9 Sternguard, drop pods, all combi meltas.
and as HQ , maybe pedro kantor cause it might be objectives.. or Vulkan , for 18 TL meltas =D . yea, suck one Landraiders..

then... idk, what can you guys think of?

5 Termi's with Librarian and GOI ? , Deep strike next to the drop pods, no scatter?

3 Thunder fire cannons? cause 12 blasts is totally needed.

2 Land Raiders? each carrying 10 CC scouts, because they are the best CC unit a space marine army can offer?

or maybe, just 10 vanguard with jump packs , all upgraded to about 600 pts ?

SM =D MotF, Land Speeder Storms, and Thunderfire Cannons are all fairly underplayed, as are Vanguard veterans. I've also never run across Calgar. Him + some Termies, 3 Scout squads with combat blades that rush on objectives, LSS with Multi meltas... So you've got vulkan for twin linked meltas, flamers and thunder hammers. Pedro to make the sternguard score. So either are useful.

Terminators combat squad down, both take a land raider of your choice.

Sternguard I've given rhinos because they're mobile. Once they pod in sternguard cannot move so much. Sure you can only fire 2 weapons out the hatch but its better than getting shot to pieces and foot slogging it every where.

Troops I'm not sure about because of points. I'd rather take tacticals with either rhinos with multi meltas and flamers or combat squad them with razorbacks with weapons of your choice. Scouts have no transports.

Speeders can deep strike in and melt something or turbo boost around. They've got flamers for toasting infantry too.

Thunder fire cannons or dakka predators, your choice. Both need to stay fixed to move though the thunder fire cannon has more firing options and a techmarine which can bolster a ruin; useful if you combat squad

Make sure to put him on a bike, so he gains Relentless, then zip around and do some mechanicus style sniping :-) And much more importantly, write battlereports!

This. I run that fairly often, and it's awesome against many armies. Be really annoying with the scouts, by doing things like shooting at HQ units (Telion helps with that) or units on objectives, and your opponent will divert so much shooting phase at a unit that refuses to die. Fleet Calgar leading 10 Hammernators Shrike and an assault squad infiltrating. And the LSSs with their 45" first turn charge

It certainly won't be an army many would have come across before. On a quick not the LSS should always have Heavy flamers due to a) Scout BS and b) allows you to burn a way through for the fleet assault scouts if you opponent castles .

The other fun combo is Pedro and The Bystander. 30 Sternguard in DPs one unit lead by The Bystander for bolter drill the other lead by Pedro hopefully all being within 12" of him for the +1 attack.
