what is truelly better trygon prime, trygon or mawloc, overall

Well, it really depends on what you want to do with them.

Personally, I say ignore the regular Trygon. Unless you're really points short, the Prime is a better investment. He is definately the infantry killer. Throw regeneration on him and you have a force to be reckoned with.

However, I like the Mawloc best. That S6, AP2 Large blast is very scary to any player. Plus, it also has the ability to run and hide from all the firepower that is going to be directed at it. Even better, run 2 Mawlocs that pop up on alternating turns on opposite sides of the board and cause your opponent to split their fire while your troops make it to objectives or close to assault.

Be warned though, Mawlocs should not assault infantry. While T6 can be daunting, enough attacks will bring it down. Use them for what they're good at: tearing open vehicles and killing infantry units with Terror from the Deep. Then get them away from heavy weapons fire and good assault units and you will be a force to be reckoned with.

I haven't tried them in a game, however based on the reading of the codex I agree with Frostreaver.

The Trygon Prime is a good unit but very expensive, especially if buffed with Regeneration. You can put together a nice little Death Star with a Trygon Prime and a Venomthrope following it and providing a portable cover save. Lots of points though.

The Mawloc is so much cheaper you can spend the points saved on a bunch of other useful stuff. You can almost get two Mawlocs for the cost of the pimped and buffed Trygon Prime.

what is truelly better trygon prime, trygon or mawloc, overall

Having played with both, jeez, that's a tough call. I prefer the Trygon Prime because it's very consistent. The Mawloc's potential is pretty insane, but like an oblit team, a scatter of more than a few inches off target turns a puddle of Land Raider back into a 250pt tank. The prime also functions better in roles where having synapse deep strike into your opponents back line is a big advantage...lest we forget that my synapse is your shadow in the warp as well.

Both are insanely hard to kill though, and Regeneration is a must have for both of them if for nothing else than to see the expression on my opponents face when they ALMOST kill one, then I roll 3 6's and get back most of what was lost.

Well there is some controversy regarding whether or not the Mawloc can be placed on top of an enemy unit when deep striking. The rules don't support but you can always try to play RAIWTTB.

I like the Prime best with adrenal glands and regen.

G

Not to start this debate up again, but, if you decide you are not allowed to DS onto enemy models, them you must allow at least 1" between enemy units and the Mawloc.

But I digress

Kilkrazy makes a very good point about almost getting 2 Mawlocs for the price of one pimped and buffed Prime. That was something I overlooked and, IMHO, 2 very good MC's are much, much better than 1 great one.

Re:what is truelly better trygon prime, trygon or mawloc, overall

hmm, i too enjoy the mawloc so far that ive played with the mawloc is somthing to be ignored when having a prime and mawloc on the field so it has a good chance of precvailing in the end as it can easily run away when it gets close to dieing compared to the prime.
so far ive try'd killing a demon prince with my prime and he couldnt he even had regen and my opponent wiffed twice but no the demon prince prevailed because of his damn invo saves.
