GW has started one, partially as a way to leech extra $$$ out of the decent painters in the area. Basically everyone paints the same model in a given month. The manager chose this months figure, the new beatsman shaman character. The winner of each months' contest picks the next months model. And although it mostly seems like additional income for the store, I can see the point in about ten of us painting the same thing and then comparing, as well as the competition improving our skills. PM'd some of the mods a few weeks back with an idea almost exactly like this. I, for one, would love something like this.
