Buff for Fighting Infantry - Practiced maneuvers

At the beginning of the turn, before charges are declared, Infantry (that is, us 1 non flyers non skirmishers) may execute a turn 90 degrees move. If they do so they move as though in difficult terrain for the round.

I believe that this addition would buff fighting infantry, putting them on par with cav/monsters, without making them better than the above.

It would make them better. The unit would get a free pivot/ technically could shuffle 45 degrees. Essentially its better than fleeing from the unit because you can controll what direction the charging unit would go on an over run.

Picture the effect on skaven. Most skaven armies utilize slaves as either living bombs, or diverters. The skaven player would just need to set up in checker board, and then walk straight ahead. You charge them, they opt to pivot, then force their flee/ hold. You overrun, and get flanked even easier then before.

Its an interesting idea, but you'd have to add a lot of game dynamics/ thoughts into the idea.

Ah, I see what you mean. Mea culpa. I meant that infantry could pivot at the start of their OWN turn. Thus, it wouldn't affect their charge reactions.

Now, the checkerboard thing would still work. If you charged a unit, and it fled, then a unit standing next to it could pivot and charge your flank.

Essentially this is a charge towards your flanks at half speed?

Interesting- though there are still some deathstars (chosen, black guard come to mind) that would get a boost along with the rest on this one...

But it's got potential.

RZ
