New guy wants to build a Orc/Goblin list.

well. Granted i dont have tons of experiance with O+G, but i just started an army myself, and have collected for a long time, so i'd like to think i can give some advice.

Depends on the kind of army you want really. If you like goblins and thats your preferance then its all good so far, but granted you need to have alot of other units to be able to compete with other armies at times.

First thing i notice is your Night gobbo units. 3 units of 20 with 3 fanatics each is alot of points. Most people in warhammer know night goblins = fanatics, so they will shoot your gobbos or just wait till the fanatics come out and shoot them. they're a great deterent, but its a huge amount of points gone if they arn't utilized. I'd get rid of one of the goblin blocks, put 10 extra into the other 2 units making it two units of 30 (goblins need numbers otherwise they run to easy) and keep 2-3 fanatics in each unit. you save yourself around 100 points there, and to an O+G list, thats alot of points for other guys!

forest spiders = good!

Id suggest getting two units of orc boys at least, hell even 3 if you can swing it, all 20-30 strong at least. With the new WAAAAGH rule, orcs have a much better chance to get extra movement and get up there in melee, more so than goblins, and they're just plain monsters in melee (especially if you give them two hand weapons). I myself love my gobbos too, but i realize that in terms of winning games and fielding competative lists, you need orcs, trust me =)

Id have your orc units in the middle of your army, probably with your general in one of them. I dont reccomend black orcs unless you're playing high point games. Go with upgrading a unit of boys to big'uns. you get the same stat line, with your armor save just a point less or something I think, but 4 points cheaper! more points = more other stuff to buy!

the chariots are a good idea. You need something that is quick and that will threaten enemy flanks or rear, and these will be perfect for that! I reccomend holding off on buying any till may, there are a bunch of new Orc and gobbo models coming out, and there are ALOT of rumours that the boar models will be redone!

I dont reccomend an orc (or anything for that matter) on a wyvern. the main reason is because your boss needs to be in the middle of the army, because orcs and gobbos leadership is terrible! your gonna want your warboss around so all within 12 inches of him can use his leadership to test. (or is it 6? im not sure). Having him flying around on a wyvern will place him away from the army, and while hey may preform well assulting enemy warmachines, wizards, small ranged units, etc, the rest of your army will be left fleeing of the table.

Squig hoppers are a good idea. Ive never seen many people use them, but they're great for hunting down war machine crews, wizards, small units etc. or use them as a flanking unit.

as far as missing..Ive noticed you have no war machines at all, or any rare choices. Id suggest doing the rare choices, either picking up a goblin doom diver, or trolls, or giant. Giants are great but extremly vunerable to fire and enemy concetration to take it out ASAP, so if you take a giant, use another unit to screen it (aka put somehting in front of the giant so the enemy is forced to shoot that first) What unit can do this trick? Snotlings, goblins, or if you wanna be real mean about it, use another giant =P

this is all of course depending on how big of a battle you're playing. Most battles are around 1500- 2000 points, and the reccomendations ive said should fit into that point value well. The chariots are good flanking units, but you may wanna invest in others, such as boar boyz (again, wait till may to see if new models come out) or even trolls to threaten the enemies flank. Keep in mind that most enemies are gonna have Strong flanking units too, most likely calvary, and you're gonna need some equally tough and strong units to keep them away. the fanatics in theory can do this job, but a clever enemy general will pick them off one at a time, so dont rely completly on them to suceed and destroying or damaging enemy flanking units!

other then that....it's all good. you have the right idea of the army, just need to know that in and Orc and gobbo list, you need to take a bit of everything sometimes to have a strong, varied list. =)

good luck to ya!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
PS- i've noticed that for some reason, when it comes to Orc and gobbo army lists or strategy, there doesnt seem to be alot of replies to them. Im guessing either its because there arnt alot of O+G players, or that there are similar posts out there. Id reccomend searching the forums before you post, as I just learned myself, and you wont have to rely on waiting for answers that may already be up =)

Yeah, id drop the wyvern and keep the boss with your orcs. With the points from the wyvern you may want to get a battle standard bearer instead again due to the low leader ship of the army. Id maybe put your shamans in chariots so in the even you have bad luck with your animosity rolls it doesnt ruin your magic phase. Doom diver is probably your best bet for a rare since can rip through most units in the game. Giant is hit or miss but generally kinda useless against elf armies. Squighoppers are hit or miss I find as well
