Getting the tank, just need the skills to run it.

Well, within 2 weeks, I'm getting a macharius heavy tank.(From forgeworld.)

Now, I pretty much picked the vulcan mega bolter since it was the best looking and becuase I love rotating guns....
But thinking from the gamers point of view the vulcan mega bolter version just doesn't seem to be the best choice, simple play tests with a Leman russ already showed that the battlecannon can cause 5-10 dead space marines(or necrons in this case.) And with an BS of 3 the mega bolter will averagly hit less then that.

So now the real question arises, how should I use this tank?

I will probably run it with heavy flamers cause they proved powerfull at short range, and that's where it's going to be.
My army is mostly mech with as little infantry as possible.(list will be posted on request.)

Most fought armies:
Necrons
Tau
Space marines
Eldar

In that order.
Btw I used to be fairly succesfull with a mech Ork army(strange I know) so all I really need is the pro tips and most importantly: The actual role of the tank.
