Tips for IG?

Hey everybody, I'm starting an IG army on.... well no budget. I have about four squads, a platoon HQ, 1 sentinel, a sniper squad, a valk, a leman russ executioner, and a proxied Valdor. So, any tips for painting? Pics of my scheme will be up in the next post. But for now it's basically a rain forest scheme.

Tips for IG?

First thing that comes to mind: plenty of small bright colors for accessories and highlights. Also, if you have a chance to pick up some lizardmen jungle swarms, I think that would make excellent basing fodder. Otherwise, anything to help make the bases look teeming with life.

Re:Tips for IG?

If you have already started painting, then this might not help, but i would stick to a white under coat as you achieve a much better depth of colour IMO, and keep to greens that take washes well, and of course, keep your paint thin, don't paint straight out the tub. The GW foundation paints are a good place to start as they seem to take washes well and give a good coat in thin layers.

Here is a pic of a pilot i'm doing in greens to give you an idea of what im on about.

Once the washes are done, all the details are reviled and easy to pic out, and gives you i guide for you highlighting. To keep the mini 'together'
i try and have one highlighting colour mixer, normally an off white/brown/grey, this provides a good set of highlight that don't over contrast.

For details, colours that contrast well will keep you mini looking more "real' but it depends what look your going for, as for basing, i agree with 'the green god'. But have to thought about some small leaves on the ground, you could make then from thin plasti card?

Hope that helps.

Tips for IG?

IG are a bad army to start on a low budget. Good luck. Try to make a decent list that maximizes points per $, veterans would work well for that.

Hits_the_spot wrote:
Once the washes are done, all the details are reviled

And when those washes are done...the Pan Fo have been unleashed upon an unsuspecting world...

Anyways, yeah. IG and low budget do not equal a good idea. IG tend to require quite a bit of a cost outlay at the start.

As for a jungle color scheme...that's a toughy. I'd have to say that a Catachan Green body armor with Knarloc Green fatigues and Scorched Brown leather details would look acceptable though.
