Combining Epoxy

So I recently started a new army which will require a lot of putty work. Unfortunately, practically speaking, my experience is about nil. I have read about the various stuffs (green, grey, brown) and how they vary in their ideal uses. I have a couple questions:

Why is green stuff so heavily featured? I feel like I must be missing something. It was okay to work with but after it cured, it remained...rubbery. I get the feeling that sharp details (not necessarily "sharp", think....not rounded/flat) would get worn down. Also, it's pretty expensive.

The other stuff I used was fantastic--normally, buying an unfamiliar product and being unable to read the directions is asking for trouble, but fortune favors the bold it would seem. I don't know what category of "stuff" it is but it cures rock hard, which I like. My question is can I combine these two products 2/3 mystery stuff, 1/3 green stuff to get the favorable benefits of both? Greatly reducing the rubbery quality and slightly decreasing the brittleness?

Please check out what I mean--I just made a blog about it today in the P and M blog section. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
