As you've said you need to sort out the primer big time. before you prime your next lot though don't forget to remove those mould lines, they can ruin even the best of paint jobs.

As for the colours for me they are to dull, you need to follow something closer to the salamanders green with black rims. That is if you are doing a fluff based Aurora chapter. If you are using you own colours then i would say add a badab wash to the grey and a thraka wash to the green.

After that add a simple highlight and finishing details like the eye lenses, grills and piping.

Here's a suggestion- If you suck at spray priming (like myself) you need to practice on sprue or miniatures you don't need. Also, there is a paint on primer by Vallejo Game Color, but it's white, and I don't know if you have to have a dark undercoat. Add more color. Just gray, black, and green is ok for a start (especially if you are just trying to get an army on the table) but some lighter colors, eye color, metallics, etc. would make it look infinitely better.

I will definitely be removing the Mould lines, its a sore thumb just staring at me every time i pick them up to paint them, It kinda puts me off from painting them because i see so many issues that i know i could have avoided if i would have listened to the Dakka forums more and read more before i went out and tried it on my own. But hey live and learn right. At least i will be taking my time for my AoBR marines and make sure i clean them up better and Prime in better conditions too.

So I have bad spraying conditions all year round. I ruined like five marines... The paint on stuff is perfect for me

Listening to the forums is all well and good but you cannot learn it all just by looking at the blogs. I think everyone on this site has got several miniatures they've messed up royally.

You should think about getting some miniatures of Ebay, doesn't matter what they are even and try out the stuff you want to on them if you're worried about ruining your marines.

Yeah, I remember my first mini's. Man, looking back I really botched them up good.

You can remove mould lines with a sharp knife or pencil file. Hardware stores are great for this stuff.

Your marine looks textured. Is that because it dried outside? Beware of wind, it carries dust. Still, the paint should dry super quick if its out of a can.
