Sergant with power sword/Storm bolter, X1 chainfist, x1 cyclone missile launcher

Sergant with power sword/Storm bolter, X1 Chainfist, X1 Assault cannon

Sergant with power sword/Storm bolter, X1 Chainfist, X1 Assault cannon

Elite: Venerable Dreadnought-160
With Flamer

Heavy Support: LR Crusader-250

Total-1500

not sure if i should go with the assault cannon or twin linked autocannon on the dread. any advice overall would be greatly appreciated

Its the only fast unit in your army while the rest cannot keep up with it.

I'd also get more TH and SS for your terminators. The 3+Inv save makes them really hard to kill and they're like powerfists, but better. Need to take an apot in the LRC squad. Its the best pice of equipment in the codex. Escpecially since it can negate a failed cover save on your LRC...

I would drop one termie squad and take a second LRC.

This is the best advice in this thread. LRC's are GREAT and the mobility, armor, and weapons will do a lot to overcome your severe numbers advantage. Put two of your term squads in the LRCs, plan on deepstriking the other.

I play against a good Deathwing player, and his dread(s) have twin-linked autocannons giving him more ranged attack. Also, he seems to have more lightning claws and heavy flamers in his mix, giving his terminators more of an "all comers" feel. The chainfists are nasty, though, so keep those.

I tip my cap to you, though. Deathwing is a hard army to win consistently with. For a first army, be prepared to take some lumps. But learn from them, play smart and tactically, and you should improve. i think this is what i am going to go with. i will prob have belial with twin LCs and have him n the first squad.

I took a SW player out by killpoint last night. I will be using belial, 2 termie squads (1LC, 1HF, 3 SS/TH) each mounted in a LRC and LR, supported by 3 attack squadrons of 1 speeder with AC/MM and a vindicator. I take on a CSM player tomorrow, we'll see how that goes. remember that DA smoke is different (ala 4E), storm shields only give 4+ in CC, if you can fit the standard in Belials squad I would, the Apothecary is ok but who uses cover saves consistently to save his assaulting LR's? I am not saying don't use it, but if your not deploying smoke on the 1st turn and into delivery turn 2 what good is a LR? Usually my LR is screening my more vulnerable troops. Also the previous poster is correct, when used properly a DW list can be highly mobile, this helps to counter the low model count. Scouts are good for sniping imo, but apart from that I think they're a waste of points.
