2000 point Wolf Guard- Not all Termies!

So here's a full wolf guard/ veteran list, with lots of transports.
I don't expect it to win tournaments, I just want to see my opponents face when he realises what I'm playing. it's just for fun, but it'll be great to see if I can actually win!

I actually thought up this idea in the shower- use grimnar to take WG as troops in place of GH. Now, I now it might lack the wolf standard, but the points actually end up cheaper woth some upgrades, and those who think that I'll have now meltaguns- combi weapons!

HQ:
Logan grimnar- 275

Troops:

WG pack (10 men) These are my anti tank guys. Should I drop guys and take a TLLC razorback?
-10 combi meltas, 1 thunder hammer, 3 melta bombs, rhino- 305

WG pack (5 men)
-Termie armor, Arjac, 2 T hammers, 4 combi weapons, cyclone missile launcher.-400+ land raider reedeemer- 640

WG pack (10 men) For my horde conrol needs.
- 5 combi flamers, 5 SB's, MotW, power weapon, rhino- 285

WG pack (5 men)
-jump packs, T hammer, SS, 2 melta bombs, power weapon, plasma pistol- 295

Heavy support:

Long fangs (6 men)
-5 missile launchers, Razorback- 180 points.

Total: 1980- still have twenty points, should I
a. Give 2 transports hunter killer missiles
b. Take 2 powerfists/ frostblades for the termies
c. upgrade the jump pack or rhino squads?
Your call.

ALL C&C APPRECIATED!

Very horrible points control.

You have neither enough vehicles to deliver your units to offensive actions, nor enough men to hold defensive lines.

A typical logan-guard list could fire 20+ missile shots per turn, while still have points for meltas.

2000 point Wolf Guard- Not all Termies!

Asgeirr Darkwolf wrote:HQ:
Logan grimnar- 275

Ah to start.. The lynch pin, What does he do? Relentless, tank hunters, fearless, preferred enemy and Logan ROAR (+1A 18&quot.

Tank Hunters: No need for meltabombs (kraks are enough anyway) when you have str 9 effective powerfists, multi-meltas, krak missiles and str10 lascannons.

Relentless: Relentless multi-meltas, from a drop pod. Its a no-brainer. You gain so much (forward mobility/placement of slow logan, insane 1st turn anti-tank death) and have so little to loose. Give him & a drop pod full of long fangs (I prefer 4mm's & 1 lascannon) along with a cyclone terminator wolfguard. Lascannon & two krak missiles to fire at ranged targets like rhino's and multi-meltas for heavy stuff like oblits, mc's, close-in tau vechiles, LR's. He will need support; Get two more drop-pods.

Fearless: Useful in certain situations. You can juggle between stubborn re-rollable ld10 or fearless (certain psychic powers, perhaps).

Preferred enemy: When combined with the Logans Warshout ability.. it becomes ridiculous. Logan and two powerfist wolfguard can single handedly kill an entire nob biker squad.. Assuming of course that those three models are what have survived the initial attacks. Yes the powerklaws will kill you back in return. But 3 models.. do the math. Besides that random example.. it makes any model in the codex hit twice as hard. Combine with power weapons & powerfists. You will often want to kill infantry @ I4.

Logan ROAR: As mentioned above.. once per game during any turn (yours/theirs).. this ability will win the game for you, if done correctly.

Asgeirr Darkwolf wrote:
WG pack (10 men) These are my anti tank guys. Should I drop guys and take a TLLC razorback?
-10 combi meltas, 1 thunder hammer, 3 melta bombs, rhino- 305

Needs a drop pod & 2 combi-flamers. You would only need to use half of the remaining combi-meltas to get a good kill, leaving you with four more. The flamers are to provide additional support to bolters & give this 265+ squad some flexibility.

Asgeirr Darkwolf wrote: Arjac, redeemer

Why and Why? The latter I can understand but why the squad composition. You have equipment flexibility. Bodies > Terminator armour when you can definitely get the charge with a redeemer. Perhaps 3 models with storm shields & termie armour and the rest in power armour with a couple of powerfists sprinkled in. Why thunderhammers? Fluffy? Same reason for Arjac? Just curious here.

Asgeirr Darkwolf wrote:WG pack (5 men)
-jump packs, T hammer, SS, 2 melta bombs, power weapon, plasma pistol- 295

If you want on the ground based mobility.. EITHER get some TWC (a full squad, sparsely equipped will cost about the same) or just grab a big squad of Skyclaws and add in a wolfguard with a jump pack. Simple.

Yeah, I know this list isn't the best, I just threw it together, to me just a test of what roles wolf guard can fufill.

Arjac's there cause I love how awesome in CC he is, I don't know about the PF guys.

Thanks for the tips, but the DP idea I don't like becasue I don't like mixing armor. Wolfguard can join bloodclaws, they just cant join Skyclaws, as I previously mentioned.

Not using drop pods, for that reason.. Well, a similar piece of logic would be I don't like using meltaguns and lascannons as I don't like mixing weapon types. It makes sense in itself but it is completely foolish. Drop pods are extremely potent with Logan.
