Have been wondering how to tackle it myself. Not seen Ariel on ebay as yet, and would imagine that there would be a lot of competition for the figure.
Am planning on scratch building Ariel for my daughter - to be honest the moth wings Ariel has dont look good to me.

Possible solution may be to make a wire frame and cover with light/transluscent material and pva glue.

It says these are 12" wingspan which seems about right?

For the spellsingers and I did want to go with butterflies or something like that for the warhawk riders. Not sure bout that. Maybe "paradise birds" instead.

I've seen it done on several fairy models before and it looks quite nice.

The acquisition of the butterfly itself might be a bit difficult, but I'm sure you might be able to find a source on the net.
