Venerable Dreadnought WIP

Just thought for my first real thread here I would share my progress on my latest purchase, and most in-depth modification of a miniature I have done so far.

For a start, I may as well post my army's scheme, as well as the previous dreadnought i worked on, main mod on that was the CCW:

Now onto the project.

Seeing the venerable dread's looks and array of customisation options was amazing, and had to get one as soon as they were released, and as i want my army to have a crusadery / angelic feel I have been using a lot of the parts from a dark angel's conversion sprue I ordered for working on my chapter master, along with the baroque cathedral-looking archway panels.

A closeup on the body, the head was made by modifying a terminator head i had spare to make it look like the grey knight / crusader helms, the unfortunate score along it is where my knife slipped when prising the panel back off; I glued it on then suddenly had a change of inspiration, but will hopefully clean up well upon final assembly.

The front panels for the torso, using a knife I carefully carved out the window sections, and these, along with the matching panel for the autocannon arm, I plan on adding a stained glass effect behind them.

The legs, I shaved off part of the crotch plate and removed the banner pole from a banner to turn this into the tabard, and then by filing down a banner top so it had a curved back i sat this into the left shin plate.

The arm is done, but i plan on curling the fingers in of the hand more so it has a better grip, and there is a lot more sculpting to go on that CCW

Have found my plasticard out of the drawer and begun planning on making the sword in the same fashion as this amazing sculpt, with the help of the website's sculpting tutorial.

Now here is a question to pose.. I had the sudden inspiration today to cut out the sections the two chest panels cover, meaning I can put a pair of LEDs behind my stained glass sections and illuminating them.

Should I also get some clear perspex to make the blade out of so I can run a couple of wires down to this and give it a power sword-like glow? (like a tutorial I saw somewhere)

I am not quite sure whether this would look interesting, or whether I should just leave it as is.

And save for semantics the Dreadnought is now complete and fully painted.
Decided against the large sword and went with a standard ccw, but modded, and will use the sword on my librarian

Also making it so this can be a Furioso so made an arm that fits into the venerable's mount.

Bad quality pics as my camera's batteries were dead so used my partner's
