				<title>Gearing up for new BA - 1500 pt list</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Hey everyone.  Like other "old school" <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(10);'>BA</span> players, I'm gearing up a list for the new codex and could use some input.  With the .pdf dex I ran a heavy assault squad list with the mentality that my opponent had 1 to 2 turns of shooting at me unhindered  and then I'd hit them like a truck.  Worked about 60% of the time, but with the new codex I'd like to actually have a competitive strategy involved this time around <img src="/s/i/a/c944477abc92c1c101da485e07ff06d8.gif" border="0"><br /> <br /> Here's what I'm thinking:<br /> <br /> Librarian: <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(457);'>JP</span>, Blood Lance and Sanguinary Sword - 125pts<br /> <br /> Assault Squad (10 man) x3:  Infernus Pistols x3, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(486);'>PWs</span> ~750 pts (I'm at work so I'm going off of memory)<br /> <br /> Baal Predator x2: <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(51);'>HB</span> sponsons, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(126);'>TL</span> Assault Cannon - 200 pts<br /> Dakka Predator x2:  <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(51);'>HB</span> Sponsons, Autocannon - 250 pts<br /> <br /> Sanguinary Priests x2: <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(457);'>JP</span> - 150 pts<br /> <br /> ~1475 pts<br /> <br /> My mentality being I use the predators as my mobile wall for a turn or two with the assault squads behind them.  Hopefully that'll give me at least a cover save for my marines with <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(265);'>FNP</span> to up their survivability as they cross the board. I guess the most obvious problem I see is the lack of anti-tank, which could be an issue.  Any advice is appreciated and thanks!<br /> <br /> I do have a rules question that I've looked around for answers with no luck.  If my marines start within the 6 inch "bubble" of the Sanguinary Priests and charge out of it, do they still receive the furious charge?  I assume they lose the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(265);'>FNP</span> once they finish the charge, but the furious charge part I'm not so sure about. The .pdf codex was clearer with that for Brother Corbulo's ability said "at the start of the assault phase," but I didn't see anything like that in the new codex when I read it. Again I'm working from memory from when I read the codex last weekend, so I apologize ahead of time if I missed the section that mentioned the answer.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Ok - here's the problem I see with this: you're planning on running your Predators for a screen for the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(457);'>JP</span> troops, right? But by doing that, you're negating what makes Predators valuable - their ability to hang out in the backfield, keeping their front armor toward the enemy. By running them forward like that, you're substantially increasing the potential for side shots and thus substantially decreasing the survivability of the vehicles. To get them close enough to "deliver the payload" of <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(457);'>JP</span> troops, you're going to be getting the Preds easily into <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(330);'>MM</span> range, if not Melta range.<br /> <br /> I think you're better off pulling the Predators and adding in 2 Vanguard Vet squads. Maybe even pulling one of the Assault Marine squads and replacing it with an Honor Guard squad. The combo of Vanguard Vets + Assault Marines works like this: Assault Marines <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(471);'>DS</span> and pop transports with their meltas. The <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(671);'>VV</span> <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(471);'>DS</span>, heroic intervention and assault what the transport was carrying. By adding in the Honor Guard, you get another solid vet squad with a built in Sanguinary Priest to give <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(265);'>FNP</span> and Furious Charge. Even with only 2 Assault Marine squads, you can still combat squad out to 4 Troops - which given you're talking about 1500 points is pretty reasonable.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ It may be not many folks have played the new codex yet. I've been reading through mine, but unable to play with/against it. <br /> <br /> The <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(10);'>BA</span> codex has a lot of things that really have me scratching my head. The list you've posted has 4 armor 13 Fast Tanks and there's really not much precedence in the game to quantify its utility. I'm interested in seeing how these kinds of armies will unfold.<br /> <br /> Personally, I'd expect folks will advocate dropping Jump Packs and putting the Marines in Rhinos for added protection. Time will tell. Sorry I can't be more helpful.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ If they start their assault phase within the furious charge area and the charge takes them out of the area I would think they would still benefit from the rule because they began the charge with it.  It's not like they would lose their "furiousness" along the way.<br /> <br /> If you're charging your preds forward why not take the baals with the flame cannons instead of the autocannons?  With the moving forward you don't need a weapon with a lot of range. ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Thanks for the advice guys.  I understand the unwariness to use predators as a wall and I'll have to change my tactics with them depending on my opponents list.  I was thinking at a higher point level adding another Baal and use those 3 Baals as the wall w/ Flamestorm Cannons (not convinced they're the better option but only time will tell) and keep the 2 Auto Predators back.  I have been working on a librarian dreadnaught and a furioso (I think the Magna Grapple is something to try out) so I'll try removing the predators and maybe <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(471);'>DS</span> the dreads instead for a couple games.<br /> <br /> @Death by Monkeys:  I do like the idea of vanguard vets for I'll be honest I didn't read into them much figuring they'd be way too expensive.  I didn't think <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(50);'>GW</span> would keep the heroic intervention on them for <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(10);'>BA</span> especially with the Descent of Angels rule.  I'll end up with plenty of models to choose from and the list you mentioned will definitely be a list I'll try out.<br /> <br /> @Sarigar:  I'll be honest and say I'm very curious to see how they work out too.  For the extra 15ish points to have a fast predator I see a lot of side shots and they limit the potential from <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'>CC</span> counterattacks.  I know I mentioned using the predators as a wall, but I'm not going to be silly and drive them up in front of a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>LR</span> full of <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(224);'>TH</span>/<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(221);'>SS</span> termies.  Being an <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span> player I can say that Hydras are my MVPs in most games and I can only imagine how 3 fast autocannon tanks will fair.<br /> <br /> @kaptaink:  Yeah I'll have to play the noob card, who's Edward?<br /> <br /> <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(442);'>PS</span> - What do you guys think of <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(224);'>TH</span>/<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(221);'>SS</span> termies w/ the Sanguinary Priests?]]></description>

I see it being rather competitive, but it's just a rehash of the popular <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(124);'>SW</span> razorback spam. I also don't see how the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(224);'>TH</span>/<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(221);'>SS</span> termies are going to work well without a ride. I do like the Fear the Darkness power over the Sanguine Sword after having a fresh look at the codex this weekend.  Might not work against fearless ork mobs/etc, but I see unsupported <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span> and necrons especially being hurt bad by that power.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ No worries, I can't speak for it, but here was part of the general strategy<br /> <br /> "The termies are counterassault and allow the libby to stay outside the<br /> vehicles and use fear (great against attack bikes, other termies etc)<br /> <br /> Lots of shooting to pwnerate transports etc.<br /> <br /> Only downside is plenty of <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(316);'>KPs</span> available. But none of them are easy to get."<br /> <br /> Play test a few variants and see how it goes. I would like to see more assualt troops personally. Otherwise I think its just a standard mech list really. It will win.]]></description>
