Mr. Burning and his multipurpose/Genre spanning tank UPDATE 24/05/2010

I'm going to be keeping a log of my project progress here. I do not promise earthshaking results.

At Gamesday '09 FW had a cracking deal on their resin Valkyrie and vendetta kits. £25 a piece. I stumped up the cash for one, joking that I should have brought more. Luckily or unluckily the one I brought turned out to be the worst nightmare of my life, taking on a life of its own by jumping off the table, cabinet, etc and falling to pieces on numerous occasions.

The unlucky Valkyrie has brought me no end of trouble and now its broken carcass can serve a better purpose...as a tank.

This project will be used to serve as a steam tank in VSF and alternative Sci-fi games as well as a Leman Russ for 40K. The rest of the kit will be used to make a flyer of some description.

Troop compartment of the Valkyrie with added Leman Russ tracks.
Strips of balsa were originally lightly mounted to use as guides but I may just keep them to bulk out the armour.
Extra plastic armour plates from Ramshackle games are going to be added as well as bits from a 1/48 scale KV2 tank and other odds and sods.

Pics with a turret ring added, made from laminated plasti card to bulk it out. Starting to add some extra plates.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Quick update. Nothing major.

Just added the front armour plates and visit slit. Currently working on the turret and cutting up sausages of green stuff and plasti card rod to use as rivet heads.

Not sure about hull mounted weapons, may have to do some magnetizing or may add the hull weapon as a coaxial mount?

Another update. Lets see how long this pace keeps up.

I have nicknamed the tank 'Ducky' for fairly obvious reasons. Anyway, rivets have been added and I have started work on the turret.
I need to figure out the main gun and the engine/boiler/exhaust/chimney gubbins.

Update:

The pen barrel cannon I have used looks very forlorn and sorry in its current state. Needs fixing up and some more detailing added to the turret.

I will be using the same pen for the chimneys/exhaust stacks and I am looking for suitable bit for the rear mounted boiler.

Update 10/04/2010

Working on the rear exposed boiler section and the exhaust/chimney stack. I need some more plasti card and bits to complete this. Then, I can get onto finishing the turret.

Only thing I'd change which looks a bit odd is the exhaust at the back. Looks abit to big and out of place. I'm nto saying get rid of the exhaust all together, just maybe thinner or slight different shape to it. But other than that, Great stuff!

The exhaust is part of a boiler system which is more visible from the rear and back of the tank (i'll have to post more pictures) I wanted this to feel clunky and archaic, I need more copper and brass pipes and may need to reflect the boiler aspect a bit more as well.
