[H] Scratchbuilt Warlord Titan [W] $$$ [USA]

Greetings all,

I am looking to sell my scratch built Warlord titan. It is armed with a vortex support missile, apocalypse missile launcher, plasma destructor, and a volcano cannon. The titan stands approximately 34" tall, both its eyes and the stained glass window gallery at its top light up and it is painted in the color scheme of the Legio Astraman. It separates at the waist for easier storage and transport. Pictures are attached. My asking price is $3000, but I am certainly willing to negotiate and will consider all serious offers. I can accept paypal and am willing to ship anywhere provided the buyer will pay for all associated shipping costs.

Waaaay overpriced, sorry.

You can grab a whopping 3 Reaver Titans from Forgeworld for 3000 bucks and have a bit of cash left.

Okay, then, a suggestion...I would see someone paying a maximum of $500 for this, absolute maximum.

You could be looking for a remuneration equal or a bit superior to what this model cost you to build material+time (not painting time, most people will want to repaint it) which I would estimate to 350 dollars + shipping, which would sound more like a fair price. But seeing how you ask 3000$, you should put it up on ebay with starting bid 75$ and see how it goes (a high starting bid will scare potential buyers).
I'm sorry that you probably won't get all the cash you were expecting from this item.

I realize the price may seem a bit high, but it covers not only the physical model, but cost for labor. I worked over 140 hours on this and so the cost reflects this. I figure 140 hours x $20/hour for skilled labor equals $2800, plus $100 for materials gives us $2900, bumped up to $3000 for a nice round number to kick things off. If you want to only pay $200, then you'll have to build one for yourself.

Also, that you could get two Reavers for that is irrellevant because you cannot buy a Warlord titan kit, it doesn't exist. They only way to own one is to scratch build it.

Exekias47 wrote:I realize the price may seem a bit high, but it covers not only the physical model, but cost for labor. They only way to own one is to scratch build it.

I think that if someone commissioned you to do the work, you might be able to use the above logic, but that's not the case. All that matters is what someone is willing to pay for the object, not what went into it. You can see this in most ebay auctions. It doesn't matter what it cost originally, it only matters what someone is willing to pay. Painted armies that people try to sell on these boards never reflect the hours that go into painting them. Certainly not at 20.00 an hour. 100-300 hours put into a large army is over a period of a year is quite common if any one kept track of their hours. But it doesn't matter, because the people buying the army don't value your time that way.

Granted, you can't get a Warlord from FW, but then again, this doesn't matter, as yours isn't from FW. So it's apples and oranges. What I think people are trying to convey is that a couple of reaver titans from FW is seen as superior to your scratchbuild, and yet cheaper.

What you can only do is take offers from people, and hope that to one person at least, your titan is seen as being worth an amount of money that makes you happy, and that he wants to pay. Hopefully someone that plays a lot of Apoc.

Forge World already confirmed they are making a warlord kit and it is expected to cost about 760 pounds, which is less than what you ask for yours.

You can also put it another way minimum wage (in Canada) is 9.50 x 100 hours (which sound more believable) = 950 dollars, converted to US dollar -> 948.764 USD (+100 dollar for materials (or not as they could be considered as a starting investment)) makes for a more decent price.
Sure at that price I wouldn't buy it but I'm not saying nobody would buy it. You shouldn't base the salary on your actual wage, more on what it would cost you to pay someone to do it at minimum costs.

ps post your titan on other boards/sites and ask for offers (there will be ridiculous ones) with no set price and
offer a respray/stripping service, for a small cost, it helps get those people who don't know how to do it still be interested on your offer. You will see how much interested people want to offer. Keep in mind that you are selling something that won't attract so many buyers so it might take time to sell.

Why are people so mean and rude, this is creating a bad image of us gamers.

my friend that is an awesome warlord. I like it, Scratch building is hard and takes a lot of time. It is no different then sculpting an item then creating a injection molding system for that model. Please people admire the art of the item before ripping down some ones hopes. show some sliver of respect.
