Craftworld Eldar with the DE codex?

Okay, hear me out.

I'm starting to think about a second army (I won't start buying for a long old while yet).

I'd like Eldar mostly for fluff reasons - but most of the other players in my circle have an Eldar force.

I don't like Dark Eldar fluff (what there is of it) and frankly, I don't like playing bad guys.

How plausable is it to play Eldar (Using >50% Eldar models), but use the DE codex? As in use the DE warrior stats for my guardians etc?

I'm not too aversed to using some of the DE vehicles because they are groovy looking and I can take the spikes off them - but it's important that the army is Eldar in fluff terms.

(I'm aware that the DE codex is fairly anemic these days, I can live with that).

Generally speaking, there's very little issue that I've heard by using your Eldar as proxies for DE troops. Obviously you would have to go through what your army is actually representing with your opponent.

You used to be able to play eldar as pirates. pirates are somewhat close to dark eldar. the first dark eldar were eldar painted differently with different fluff. so it's fine to use them as dark eldar. i'd do a renegade eldar force, or an outcast one. i'd maybe use harlequins as wyches.

Craftworld Eldar with the DE codex?

Mostly 'cos I know a lot of people who play vanilla Eldar.

But now I'm thinking instead of playing codex musical chairs I'd be better of using the propper 'dex and making my army my own through unique and flavourful fluff and build.

I'm thinking HQ: Twin sisters, one a Farseer, one an Autarch, different, yet inseperable, night and day. I love shining Spears, so I'll use a lot of them, and a cool colour scheme. Maybe black and silver?

I recon that the Fantasy 'Aristocratic Vampire' could make an awesome Farseer with a little converting. (The Autarch would naturally be on a Jetbike because it's so cool).

So... Yeah, thanks Dakka - you have helped me.

Re:Craftworld Eldar with the DE codex?

I was planning on doing the same thing (twin Farseer/Autarch, both on jetbikes) and there's a fluffy battle report on Dakka I read a week ago that had twin sister Farseers, so heads up that it doesn't seem to be a vastly unique idea. Shining spears are certainly unique though, I haven't ever seen any fielded before!

If you don't mind waiting, a new Dark Eldar codex is hiding just beyond the horizon. Nobody can say how counts-as happy with Craftworld Eldar it'll be, but you never know.

Dammit!

Nah, seriously, I suppose it's just confirmation that it's a cool idea if two other people also had it and ran/will run with it.

For the record - I had pictured my Autarch on a jetbike, but not my Farseer - she's the reserved, level-headed one who hangs out in the Wave serpent.

It'll be unique in my neck of the woods, though, and that's about all a chap can ask of life.
