Chaos lash power

Okay Let me see if i understand what the popular lash tactic is.
Use lash, drag a single model closer to you.
charge the guy who is out of formation.
deliver pain to whole squad in assault phase by shanking one lone dude who is between 4 and 14 inches (allow for 2d6 inches plus 2 for squad coherency) out of squad coherency.
???
Kill Maim Burn

Is this correct and also, If this tactic is winning Tourneys why is it not getting people flagged for sportsmanship. If I understand what the tactic is, then It seems a little broken to allocate hits to a whole squad by abusing the guy who is almost a foot out of coherency. I bring this up in tactics because I want to understand the possible penalties i could suffer in official tournaments and to make sure i understand the popular usage of lash.

on a hypocritical level, It does not strike me as a cheap tactic when the blood slaughterer does it with the impaler.

Hit me with your wisdom dakka-ites

No, lash is used to drag a unit from cover and clump it so more models can be hit by templates/blast markers. It wins tournaments because many tounies don't have sports/army composition scores as they tend to be unfair to certain armies and viewed as a bad way to lose a tourny.

And people think it is cheesy, that's the only reason (I see) that people are getting hit for sportsmanship, which is BS imo. One of my favorite tactics - lash a unit. Move them so that you can rearrange their coherency. Arrange them in a nice big bubble and hit them with oblits' twin-linked flamers or vindicators, something of that nature.

I grappled the shoggoth wrote:Its not that impressive. It can be annoying, but nothing about lash is an 'ace up the sleeve'.

It was in a team tournament that my brother and I played in. We were at Table 1 and the objective was a center "train station". Whoever had their General in the train station at the end of the game, won the mission. If both side's generals were in the train station, it was a draw. Bottom of turn 6 - time is winding down, so they had called to stop on the bottom of the turn you're on. Last few seconds, my brother lashes the enemy HQ out of the train station and the train takes off with our HQs safely aboard, for the win.

Re:Chaos lash power

All smart chaos players and people that play against chaos should know that lash is not as useful as it use to be. Most armies that we run up against in competitive settings are in little danger from dual lash princes. Heavy vehicle(obviously doesn't work), horde(who cares if you move 2 units of models when they have lots more?), psyker defense (good luck getting it off), etc are all very popular and make lash a joke to bring.

It is useful if your opponent is playing small amounts of expensive infantry with no psychic defense and not enough killing power to bring down your monstrous DPs in a turn or two. That situation is exceedingly rare. It just isn't smart strategy to take something that is very useful against a very small group of enemies over something that is less useful but works against a large amount of enemies(in a tournament/competitive setting).

Oblits are at least still somewhat useful but most people take way too many of them when we have so many other good choices in our heavy support section.

haha cool. Ive been rocking Ahriman so i thought i was missing something. (other than cardboard cards with my powers on them and a force deck) I definitely would not run two of the same trick. and all i have for DPs is two old pewter great unclean ones. Even mech armies have to have some infantry and most transports arent hard to crack open. Its fantastic against nids that cant get a synapse creture close to you. Lashing gant walls out the way of precious zoans and hive guard is very good. Lash princes are also cheap for their effectiveness. You get a decent MC with good I that flies. Even if you cant use lash much during a game it doesnt really hurt because it isnt costing you much.
