Okko, the miniatures game

http://www.okko-thegame.com/

I came across this the other day and thought I'd ask if any of you have seen these guys out yet, and if this game looks like its worth getting in on?

Does anyone have the good the bad and the ugly on this game, yet? If you've picked up the minis, how are they?

Do these minis go well with the Legend of the 5 Rings guys? How do they look in scale to other min games?

A brief look on the Asmodee site provided little more information :
http://www.asmodee-us.com/ressources/jeux_versions/okko-miniatures.php
They're probably 28mm, but it's not specified anywhere. If they are indeed 28mm they might scale decently with other line, but they do have a rather specific style, so I'm not sure they'd watch well with anything else, including the clan wars line from L5R.
Interestingly, Okko itself is a fromic that, according to its authors, is heavily inspired by the L5R RPG.

Re:Okko, the miniatures game

Here is a video review made about 8 months ago.

I agree with everything on the vid. Its a bit...meh. But fun all the same. If you expect a light game you will not be disappointed.

I own the minis and they still have yet to release everything that is needed even for the base game, let alone the expansions. Shame, because I really want that vampire model to be made. Good quality minis though as the sculpting is quite nice. The scale is about 30mm but if you use other companies oriental minis then no need to worry about scale as you can just use them instead.

The game is definitely better with minis. And hand made terrain for that matter.

Re:Okko, the miniatures game

To sum it up:

1.) Okko is first of all a French comic series with four books released (2006 - 2009, in Germany released in two books). It is obvioulsy samurai themed.

2.) Then, a board game plus supplement were released. The boardgame is complete, features 30mm floor tiles of a Japanese building, in which two fractions (Okko's troop vs. a Daemon led troop) fight each other. The board game includes cardboard standups in 32mm scale of all characters involved.

3.) The board game suggests to replace the cardboard miniatures with metal miniatures, not all of them released yet but in 32mm scale as well. One supplier also made terrain esp. for Okko, but his website is currently offline (until then look here http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/index.php?s=okko ).

Here a thread with further links and discussion: http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=158990 .

If you are interested, these two manufacturers currently make the best japanese buildings:
http://www.johnjenkinsdesigns.com/28JAP.htm
http://www.hovelsltd.co.uk/oriental25.htm
(Fenryll and Armorcast make very few terrain pieces as well)

Okko, the miniatures game

Just moved back to mainland USA from Hawaii, a month or so before I left I breifly watched a few games of this being played by some guys at the game shop there. They really seemed to like it, simple straight foward and fast paced is what I was told. The figs are great, If I remember right they are @28mm but not heroic 28 fairly preportional not ham fisted. They had a simialr board but to play on. Looked pretty cool.
