As to female space marines, I'm willing to bet that Imperial genetic engineering has reached the point where it can functionally make female space marines. They would probably, in taking on the characteristics of the (male) Emperor, though, develop male skeletal and muscular structure. Any differences left over would be obscured by the power armor anyway. On the other side, though, such a socially conservative organization as the Imperial Space Marines would probably still refer to them as "Brother-Captains" regardless of gender. This is especially true in an ultramarines successor chapter.
