The Crimson Leaves...

They are my own DIY chapter, and I will use this thread to tell you all about their backstory. Soon, a P&M Blog will go up, showcasing my Marines.

In the grim, dark, and gruesome universe of the 40th Millenium, there is a well-known Space Marine Chapter - The Ultramarines. They have embarked on many dangerous, yet courageous missions in the past, and certainly won't stop any time soon. However, there is one mission that few have even heard of, nevermind participated in. Only 24 Terminators and Marenus Calgar, have participated in this terrifying, yet rewarding mission. The aforementioned strike force were battling for a particularily important Space Hulk, when suddenly, the Space Hulk entered the warp. The Ultramarines did not expect this, and were suprised where they had arrived - Terra in a parallel universe, at about 2124 C.E. The U.S. had been invaded by Neo-Nazis, who had somehow destroyed everything that opposed them. They slowly gathered, and destroyed everything through sheer numbers. They were now going up to Canada. Marenus and the Terminators landed about 10 miles north of the borders in Ontario. They came just in time to be in the thick of battle...

Blood was shed on both the Canadian and Neo-Nazi sides, but thanks to the Ultramarines, the Canadians were victorious. Eventually, after about 463 battles, and over 150,000,000 deaths on both sides, the Neo Nazis were defeated, and retreated. The Ultramarines had managed to get a Cruiser to rescue them. But they demanded one thing from the Canadians - enough men and women to make a new Chapter. Many of them having owed their lives to the heroic Ultramarines, they complied with the order, and 2000 civilians deemed to be made into Space Marines were loaded on to the Cruiser, and sent through the Warp, back to Ultramar. They selected a young man, about 25 years old, a genius and an amazing soldier, to become the Chapter Master, and Master of the Forge. His name is only known as Master of the Forge Kaiser. He is a terribly vicious opponent, and wishes to destroy all who threaten the Emperor and their chapter. They have only 9 companies, however, and none follow the standard requirements for Chapter Companies.

Here is a List of their Companies, and their Composition (Sometimes Changes)

1st - The Knights of the Emperor "To victory before death!":
Master of the Forge Kaiser
Captain Mareno
1 Command Squad, in Razorback
2 Tactical Dreadnoughts
1 Ironclad Dreadnought
1 Venerable Dreadnought
1 Predator Tank
1 Tactical Terminator Squad, with Land Raider Redeemer
5 Tactical Squads, with a mix of Razorbacks and Rhinos
1 Scout Squad
3 Landspeeders
1 Assault Squad
1 Bike Squad

2nd - The Debt to the Emperor "We owe our lives to the Emperor - we must do what he wishes.":
Captain Sario
Sister-Chaplain Monea
1 Command Squad, in Razorback
1 Assault Termiator Squad, with Land Raider Crusader
1 Tactical Terminator Squad, with Land Raider Phobos
1 Sternguard Veteran Squad, in Rhino
2 Devastator Squads, with Razorbacks
1 Whrilwind
3 Tactical Squads, with Razorbacks
3 Scout Squads
2 Assault Squads
1 Scout Biker Squad

3rd - The Hammer of the Emperor "Strike the foe down through sheer might!":
Captain Desauris
Epistolary Jaques
1 Command Squad, with a Razorback
2 Ironclad Dreadnoughts
1 Assault Terminator Squad, with Land Raider Redeemer
2 Land Raider Crusaders
1 Devastator Squad, with a Razorback
6 Tactical Squads, with Razorbacks
9 Land Speeders

4th - The Emperor's Knife "We wedge ourselves in where none else can.":
Sister-Captain Thorsansa
Chaplain Thorsansa
1 Command Squad, with a Razorback
1 Sternguard Veteran Squad, with a Rhino
2 Tactical Terminator Squads
3 Devastator Squads, with Razorbacks
6 Scout Squads
2 Assault Squads
1 Land Speeder Storm

5th - The Emperor's Shield "We shall stand here.
I'm just going to leave your Canada vs. US_Nazi's_In_Space fluff alone and pick on the 40K cannon violations.

- No Ultramarine spin-off chapter would ignore Gullimans strict orders to adhere to the codex. Ever. PERIOD.

- Chapter Masters are heros, the best of the best the biggest of the mean they aren't teenagers; I like Orson Scott Card as much as any one here but Ender Wiggen is in a differant universe.

- 24 Termies at one objective sound like the emo-goth Death Angles not the Ultramarines.

- The 8th seems like a cool way to add some flavor to your chapter and I applaud your effort but a new chapter who have already had an entire company fall to chaos seems a little odd.

- Sister Captain? Space Marines are Women now? That would be the ugliest chick ever.

Sorry if I forgot to mention that.

These guys are meant to be flavourful.
Ok, flavorful marines I can respect, your story was too crazy for me to take as a joke and you came off as a kid who needed pointed in another direction.

As for the Neo-Nazi thing? If you have ever met any of these guys you would realize that ignostic fundamentalists are a bigger threat to national security. Just picturing the ones I knew getting enough motivation to actually accomplish something like conquering the US is impossible to do with out laughing.

As for the Female Space Marines, there have been dozens of these conversations on this site so I will not argue but let me say this:

Female BA Sergent: "DIE XENOES SCUM!!!!DIE DIE DIE!!!"

BA Death Company Marine: "Whoah, I thought I was angry"

Other Death Company Marine: "Yeah she gets like this every 30 or so days. There probably won't be anything left to kill..."

Again, I like the Ender approach, if Peter was first captain there would be nothing to stop them. If you haven't read Enders Game I highley recommend it, I just thought you might not be aware of what being a Space Marine Captain takes.

The Crimson Leaves...

I would offer criticism here, but I think that the rest of the DakkaDakka community has got that one covered. (As a side-note, I just got the Crimson Leaves reference. We orks aren't known for our wit.) I think that the backstory is hokey as hell, but anyone who's read that line about the six terminators in the basement of the Macragge polar fortress can forgive that. I do think that a chapter formed by Calgar would be pretty rigidly organized according the the Codex Astartes, though, so you might want to pick a chapter that's a little bit farther divorced from the Ultramarines. I really dig the idea that they permanently left a company that turned stricken from the roster. Maybe they still have conflicts with that group of traitors. Sounds like a great springboard for a narratively driven campaign. Keep practicing the fluff writing, and read some 40K novels. You'll get the hang of it.

As to female space marines, I'm willing to bet that Imperial genetic engineering has reached the point where it can functionally make female space marines. They would probably, in taking on the characteristics of the (male) Emperor, though, develop male skeletal and muscular structure. Any differences left over would be obscured by the power armor anyway. On the other side, though, such a socially conservative organization as the Imperial Space Marines would probably still refer to them as "Brother-Captains" regardless of gender. This is especially true in an ultramarines successor chapter.

ComputerGeek01 wrote:As for the Female Space Marines, there have been dozens of these conversations on this site so I will not argue but let me say this:

Female BA Sergent: "DIE XENOES SCUM!!!!DIE DIE DIE!!!"

BA Death Company Marine: "Whoah, I thought I was angry"

Other Death Company Marine: "Yeah she gets like this every 30 or so days.
