Resin Conversion Pieces

So, I'm starting my first PLOG with a set of bitz I intend to cast in resin to flesh out the "Heavies" in my 'Nid Army. [note, I had called these "Space Bugs" in my initial post explicitly trying NOT to peev off GW; but my intentions obviously were in question, for the initial reaction below, so I'll be more specific]

Since I'm not very good with "the green stuff" I started this in Maya -- a 3D modeling and animation program.

I intend to Rapid Prototype these, then sand them, coat them, and cast them for stability. By creating one shell, I should be able to minimize the amount of sculpting I have to do to create a few different models from there.

Here's an initial render; I'll post more pics once my part is back from the bureau, and I have done a few conversions with it...

If I were you, I would remove that copyright stuff. You are (or should be) the only person with the design files (until you send it off for printing anyway). The very fact that you have the 3d files proves that you own the image. By putting the copyright info there, GW's legal department can attack you for attempting to steal their copyright, etc. and you know what... they would probably win.

Re:Resin Conversion Pieces

I like the idea, but your designs are clearly based on GW tyranids, so be VERY carful if you are planning on going into any kind of money making, long or short run production. As GW's lawyer shark types will eat you alive. But if your doing it to create some good looking minis and an army of your own, it should work out pretty well. Dont let the GW stuff put you off of continuing with this project, im looking forward to seeing some results.
