Overbrushing

I was casually reading the tutorial on how to assemble and paint the Empire steam tank, (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?catId=&categoryId=400015&section=&pIndex=0&aId=14500028&start=1) when I came across a term I haven't heard of before " Overbrushing". The tutorial didn't explain as far as I could see how this technique works. So i want to ask, what is overbrushing and how do I use it to my advantage?

Re:Overbrushing

Overbrushing is having a little bit of paint on the brush and gently stroking it over the raised parts. Paint is about the same thickness as for drybrushing but the brush is actually damp (not wet) and you don't 'scrub' the same way. If the paint is thinned down, there is too much of it or you stroke too hard, it'll get into the recesses and ruin the effect. Basically you're just skimming gently over the top in a single pass, in one direction. If it is too little you wait until it's dried a bit and then do it again, building up slowly.

I use it a lot on long hair, on basic models that I don't do blending on. Less dusty and makes the hair look more like it is flowing in one direction, not frizzy.

Re:Overbrushing

Overbrushing... the simplest way to describe it would be drybrushing, except without the dry. You've got more paint on the brush, thus it leaves more paint on the model, which doesn't give the chalky or dusty look that drybrushing does. On the other hand, with overbrushing you run the risk of getting too much paint on the model.

EDIT - Huh, didn't see Morgrim's post. He's got the better summary.
