New Taxation Idea

Hey all,
I was just thinking about life and things and was pretty mad that we have to pay taxes to our city, state, and country in three separate bills. While daydreaming, I stumbled across this idea. Now I am not a philosopher or politician, but I don't see any problems with it so far. If you find any please speak up. Here it is: If we pay one bill to our local city, and every city in a state pays a certain percentage(depending on several factors of which I have not identified yet) of that money to each state, then each state(in my case 50) can give a certain percentage of their taxation income to the nation. All of the extra tax income such as sales tax and things would be a different story, but do you think this would work?

P.S. I am sure that this would make the government manage its money better!

dogma wrote:It would require the states to abide a tax rate set by the federal government, as opposed to the current system in which all taxes are set independently.

You say that as if it's a bad thing.

I am entirely in favor of simplification of the labyrinthine mess that is US tax code.
