I bought one of them when it was first released by Nitto (then called S.F.3.D) - I understand that this range of kits bankrupted them due to the high production costs (they included metal and etched parts). The kits are based on the approach to the models in the original Star Wars films, in that they're assembled from various other kits, especially large scale Formula 1 racing cars (which is probably why they went for 1/20 scale), and they tend to have visible worky bits. For instance, the Krote uses the seats from a Tamiya armoured car (they're sitting on top of the legs - the AT-AT from Empire Strikes Back uses parts from the same kit).
