VIndicare assassins

Question: If I remember correctly, the RAW for a shot from a VInidcare allows you to choose which model in the unit gets removed. Can your opponent, though, still allocate which unit takes the save?

Example: my Vinidcare fires into a squad of Marines, one of them with a storm shield; I want to kill the Sarge, but can he use the 3+ invuln since there is a guy with a storm shield in the squad?

Reading the Vindicare Assassin's Marksman special rules, I'd have to say that the model you nominate would have to take the save. So in your example, the Sarge would have to take his armor (or whatever) save and he could not use the Storm Shield's 3++ since you are specifically targeting that model (the Sarge) who doesn't have a 3++.

Edit:

My point of all that was that normal wound allocation doesn't apply as the Vindicare Assassin has more specific rules for shooting than the normal ones found in the BRB.

Wound Allocation applies, it is just the shooter gets to allocate the wound. If the model that the wound gets allocated does not have an Inv save then then it is not allowed to use the war gear of other models in the unit.
