Trench Bases?

So while I wait for my DKoK to arrive I have spent several hours looking at different paint schemes.

I was inspired by the simplicity of these guys http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1519&page=3

The only thing I don't like about them are the bases. I am trying to figure out a way to make some trench style bases for them but have no idea how to do it.

Suggestions are most appreciated.
