Soaking it and using some good detergent.

Depending on how dry it is, your going to have an issue if it is dry all the way. If it is damp, you just need to soak it with hot soapy water and it will come out with some chipping. When it drys, it becomes kinda like plastic, so then you end up having it soften up and then it chips off after it warns up with the soapwater.

TAKE YOUR TIME. If it is dry, it won't come out all at one time. If it is just spilt, get it into the soapwater as fast as possible.

Good Luck

Actually, I found a solution on a website for household disasters for new housewives.

Nail polish remover+cotton swab. Takes a bit of work, but it took ALL of the paint up with NO damage to the couch. I was astounded. My girlfriend can't even tell where the stain used to be. Woohoo. I tried softening/chipping, but I was taking the fibers off of the couch. Thanks for the response though. I hope this helps anyone else who needs it.

Odd Question

OOOooo... Good save! I was going to recommend a steam cleaner. One of my favorite shirts became a casualty of paint splatter, so this is good advice. Thanks!
