Airbrushed Salamanders' Predators and Razors.

Yo all
Had this funky idea of airbrushing something "real flame" on some old tanks - I have a bunch of old marine tanks so I tought id give it a spin.
Decided Ill make em into Salamanders since ive seen alot of salamanders sporting flames on their armour. The tanks are only airbrushed so far, so there is no detail work or anything.
I just wanted to throw these up to get some feedback - so wadda ya fellas think? If I evetually finish em up I will probably try and sell them.

And a shot from above :

True fire is going to be hard to pull off at this scale. You did a very good job of it though.

I know if you go to TCP Global you can buy "true flame" stencils to help get the licks and curves like the pro's use (though with true fire you need to freehand) for rc-scale cars and trucks. They might help with the fire licks on future "larger" tanks.

Look good though.

Those look awesome Innom! Are you spraying white and candy? Or layering various shades? If I had to guess I'd say layering shades, in which case two thumbs up for taking the arguably harder route.

The true flame effect is really solid, they'll look ace when they're finished. Keep going!

Re:Airbrushed Salamanders' Predators and Razors.

@Agemmann1 : Yeah! Thats what I was thinking when I was looking what my hands were doing I dont have a titan or even landraider handy so I cant test it tough I knew before I started that these tanks are kind of small for this effect, but that was probably one of the main reasons why I went on with it

@Fateweaver : Thanks, tough my real fire technique in my own eye is still severely lacking Ive actually made some true fire stencils from plasticard but they are far from ideal I made them before I ever even tested airbrushing fire - so there is no real tought put into shaping the stencils, just random arcs and shapes of which there is only a few "good ones" I use regularly when painting.

@Red Corsair : Thank you very much, I just might

@Teek : Yo bro! You gonna be thinking im bs:sing you when I tell you, but once again your work has been the main catalyst at making me test something new I love that ork dreddy of yours you just finished up recently - I tought the "old school" hotrod type flames looked so effin good on a larger model I just had to see what real fire does And yes you are dead on about my methods. Ive tested doing whites and candies but with the current paints I got to work with it just wont turn out right in my eye (the white is very dominant and the candies are more like washes, so the white tends to show trough really bad if you dont do 400 layers of candy )
Im using a brand of paint called createx, waterbased acrylics that are sometimes a real bitch to work with. Ontop of that, they arent really suitable for hard surfaces but so far what ive tested ive managed to get it to stick with varnish just as good as normal brush painted gws for instance.

Really happy for the feedback fellas ive roamed trough my overflowing bitz boxes to find out if I got enough marine bits to build atleast 20odd tac marines and a few chars and it is looking promising. I might end up airbrushing them too, along with atleast a dread and maybe some termies. I wont be doing real flame on the troops tough just the regular green Salamanders look. Whatever I manage to pull of, atleast if nothing else, with this little side project ill be dusting off and recovering alot of stuff that has been hiding in the deepest shadows of my cabinets with extremely poor chances of ever getting out 40k recycling? Damn, I might be treehugger afterall
