GW service question

How does GW deal with missing pieces in sets? I heard that they will send you an entire new product and let you keep the old one too, but this system seems like it would be exploited all the time. Whats to stop some greedy gamer calling them up, saying "oh yeah my new marines are missing a piece. its broken off the sprue", and getting a whole new box set for free? If GW demands to see it, he just pops it off the sprue and sends it in to them. I can't imagine that this is a good business model. It seems like replacing and keeping the broken copy would be better, but people would still use this to get untold amounts of bits.

I am confus as to why GW insists on catering to this scheme.

GW service question

So you're complaining about GW's awesome policy for replacing missing pieces?

Odd.

They do ask for the batch code and the order is shipped through your GW account so they should be able to tell if you're scamming multiple boxes. Otherwise they probably treat the occasional lie as the cost of doing business.

And it's not always neccesarily the whole boxed set. For instance, I had a friend who purcahsed a box of the plastic gargoyles and was a 1 flying base shy of the whole set. They sent him out a bag of the flying bases, not a whole new gargoyle box.

And as much as I understand where you're coming from (I do work for an insurance company ), there really shouldn't be any reason to complain.

Not complaining, I think its great, just wondering why the replace the ENTIRE order rather than keeping the defective product. I guess to say "no hard feelings"? The GW account makes sense, before I was picturing people calling in every other box they got.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Not complaining, I think its great, just wondering why the replace the ENTIRE order rather than keeping the defective product.
Call them and ask.
Most people that buy them in-store are told to return them for replacements.
For online orders they check the batch number to see if there has been some other calls about missing pieces.
GW service question

Haha I get comments like that all the time when my friends google my name. Substitute teachers here in california have a habit of butchering it ruthlessly.

"Ey-oh-in?"

"here"

not a fan of cricket myself, wish they had hurling/Gaelic footbal over there though.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAND back on topic

any funny stories of people getting free titans? that would make me laugh! somehow I think thats more of a "ship it back and we'll take a look at it" situation though.

GW service question

Oh I see, I thought it had something to do with the cricket link. I suppose you don't get that many irish forenames over there.

Back on topic. If it was causing GW that much trouble they would probably give the mokeys in the packing department more training. Or more pay. At the moment it's probably cheaper for them to have the over generous policy on missing items while continuing to pay their warehouse staff in rice.

GW service question

It depends on what is missing. I recently bought some Kans new plastic kans that came without bases and they just sent replacement bases.

I have also have a Warp lightning cannon without a carriage and I got a whole replacement box. It all comes down to how they produce it. If you are missing a sprue they cannot cast a single sprue they cast the whole lot and would be left with leftover sprues they can't sell so they just replace the lot.
