Buying Stock?

This is just an idea that came to me while reading this thread, which is mostly about hatin' on/defending GW for its lack of pre-release coverage.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/312623.page

Now I'm not even sure it GW is a publicly traded company or if things even work the same way over in the UK and I'm guessing that this is a big old no, but:

In the US, at least, when a larger company has stockholders, they are usually invited to a once a year meeting where the stockholders get to see what the company is working on, its financial goals, how the company has been doing, new ideas and changes, ect. If, and this is a very big if, GW did this, would they announce new product ranges, or their shipping dates? While I'm assuming that (once again) IF they do this, GW would just say "we are launching our new (insert army) in October in order to be ready for Black Friday and the holiday season". Heck, they might not even say what the range is, just that they're launching one. I'm just assuming that they would because a new line of products (hopefully/probably) would bring in a little extra dough.

So does anybody know anything about this?

Buying Stock?

Some people have owned GW stock, if it was as simple as you suggest then there would be more reliable information about future releases. There's even a member here who, if I recall correctly, had a significant amount of shares and the idea that you can sway the company in any way, or even get them to listen to you, is a fruitless one. They are mainly owned by a holding company and GW pander to them. They aren't interested in the intricacies of what GW release only that they make money. We only hear what they discuss openly, which isn't a lot, and they aren't interested in informing the rest of shareholders.
