I know exactly what you mean - I have some metal terminators, for example, and I strongly agree, they have a much more pleasant feel in the hand.

That being said I never feel like I enjoy building them so much as endure it. They always feel like so much more of a chore, and it feels like the detailing is frequently not as sharp on the metal minis.
