Green Stuff question

Is there a way to preserve green stuff that I've already mixed and I'm not ready to use? I tried wrapping it in saran wrap and it was a dismal failure, so decided to ask Dakka for help. Thanks for all suggestions.

I searched to see if this had been previously answered and the search function was evil.

Green Stuff question

Once you mix green stuff, a chemical reaction starts to cause it to harden, so wrapping it against air won't help. What you can do is place your mixed green stuff in the freezer to slow down the reaction. It won't pause it completely but you might get another day or two of time out of it.

Hope that helps!

Green Stuff question

Never found the freezer thing to be a lot of use and only had moderate success. Possibly because I have left it longer than a day or two.
I try not to mix too much up in one go and mixing small amounts seems a lot easier on the fingers.

Green Stuff question

I always break off pieces then put half of it back before mixing it. Amazing how well that works vs. jsut judging what I need.

The smaller amount you use the less waste (if any) you have. You can always mix more!

I do the same thing with GS and my Aves, I keep some wax paper so I can run it through my pasta machine so it's the right thickness. The only tough part is cutting the rivets flat!
