Dismantling glued plastic model

I bought a Chaos Terminator Lord recently, and being swayed by looks over possible effectiveness, decided on a pair of lighting claws. Played his 1st game las night and was not impressed by how they performed - rather than slicing through Orks like so much ripe corn he ended up tarpitted for the majority of the battle... I'm wondering (in addition to whether there is any point to a pair of LCs and in what circumstances they can be worth having? And will bolter & chainfist be a better choice?) if there's any way to remove glued appendages without damaging the model. I used GW plastic glue btw...

It's not possible to remove them without damage beeing made as pastic glue welds the plastic parts together into a single object.

If your lucky you can carefully try cutting them off tho altho i wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
So if i were you i would just buy an other lord or if your short on money give the lord a transport so that he can get to the frontlines faster.

A realy effective method of using lighting claw terminators/lords is by putting them in a land raider and simply rush foward and unload them and instantly charge the enemy

Hope that helps

Dismantling glued plastic model

Thanks, I had come to the same conclusion about the glue fusing the parts together, but Dakkaites are nothing if not ingenious, so I thought I'd give it a shot!

My problem with LCs was once in combat (he engaged pretty quickly) he was pretty ineffectual, only managing to inflict any damage after 3 turns of CC. But maybe it was the dice gods being against me. I'll maybe give him more opportunity to prove himself rather than sideline him after 1 game. Perhaps it might be more productive to attach him to my berserker unit rather than vanilla CSMs...

Re:Dismantling glued plastic model

If you used super glue then I have heard that putting the model in the freezer first can be successful. I tried it in removing some limbs from a tyanid warrior with mixed success but then I don't think my freezer is all that great ...

Freezing indeed works very well. I actually froze a chimera last night and took it apart earlier today (I used GW glue as well).

However if he used PLASTIC GLUE, as he said he did, you cannot do that as the two pieces are now one piece of plastic. Cutting the bits apart is the only way to get them apart.

Yeah, there's really no way to do it. Although I've heard certain 'freezing techniques' can make it easier to pry apart.

I'd actually consider buying the lord off of you. Do you have a picture?

I like lightning claws on regular terminators, not special characters. Especially with a MOS or MOK. The lack of a shooting attack hurts them a lot (especially with that 5 BS of theirs) and it's hard to get them in range.

I just saw your post Samus, I can sort a pic for you if you like, but with shipping to the States etc it may not be cost effective. There's also some glue marking on the back where I was able to remove the cloak before the glue was set (I was so keen to get the thing assembled it wasn't until the cloak was attached that I realised it would make it virtually impossible to paint the back of the armour...)
