Eating me some Ramen!

Well I just made myself a bowl of ramen noodles so that's where the inspiration for this thread came from.

My favorite flavor is Oriental.

So what's your favorite flavor, all you connoisseurs of ramen here on dakka?

And how do you prepare your ramen? Add anything to it? Any orginal recipes? Share! (eating just plain ramen gets a little boring)

Eating me some Ramen!

Ugh, Top Ramen... No wonder you hate the pork. I suscribe to Maruchan brand ramen, their Chicken is delicious, their beef is delectable, their pork is delightful, and their Roast Beef flavor is the tastiest fething ramen I've ever had in my life. Their Oriental ain't bad either.
When I make ramen, I put the noodles in a bowl of water, microwave for 3 minutes, drain the water, add the flavoring and mix well. I usually fill up the flavor packet with water after adding the powder, both to get the rest of the powder and to get a bit of water back in the ramen for mixing.

Now what creeps me out is those sick variant flavors... You know the ones...

Please don't try and work around the swear filter. ta.

Eating me some Ramen!

I like to get creative with my ramen. I end up spending a great deal more on added ingredients for my ramen noodles than I do on the noodles themselves. Even if they're only twenty cents a pop, there's nothing quite like them.

As a general rule, I always drain the water (though I leave a little bit to keep the noodles from sticking together), I barely cook the noodles themselves (less than two minutes a pop; just enough to get them separated), and I always like to add some kind of oil. Here are a few of my favorite recipes for ramen that I've come up with (keep in mind that most of my measurements are to taste; so go easy with everything):

For beef flavored ramen, I like to add a little olive oil (just enough to coat the noodles; about 1 tsp per noodle), a bit of ground chipoltle pepper, some crushed red pepper, a few dried japanese peppers, some minced and sauteed white onion, and some leftover slices of steak if I have any. This can get pretty hot, so take it easy with the seasoning.

For chicken flavored ramen, I like to add oyster sauce (a little goes a long way), one tsp of sesame seed oil per noodle, cashews, and some slices of chicken if I have any. Again, oyster sauce is a double-edged sword, so add it little by little until you find a sweet spot, and don't forget that it spoils soon after you open it (I figured that out the hard way).

For shrimp flavored ramen, I like to add just a bit of butter (again, 1 tsp per noodle will probably suffice, if that), some garlic salt, and just a pinch of both chili powder and lemon pepper.

For pork flavored ramen, I only add in about half the seasoning that comes with the noodle, and then I add in equal parts duck sauce and honey until the noodles are just barely coated in it. I like to add in a bit of canned chunked pineapple and some canned mandarin slices to that if I have any, along with some slices of leftover porkchop.

When ramen noodles are the only food you can afford on a consistant basis, you have to get creative with them or they will literally drive you insane. Hopefully this helps some people out.

A recipe my mom tried, that was quite tasty.

Used the chicken flavored for this one.

1. Cut up chicken breast/thigh and brocolli/cauliflower.
2. Boil ramen as normal, but don't add the powder.
3. Toss in the chicken and brocolli, sprinkle some shredded cheese.

Enjoy.
