I do not have an answer for you.

however, why does it matter? Their foundations are good, the washes are a useful short cut...

Price wise, RMS or Vallejo are better quality and half the price.

I'm with an above poster. Vallejo paints makes a spinoff series of paints based on GWs line - most of the names of paints are very similar. You get a clean eyedropper tip instead of a messy bowl you have to scoop out of, you get I believe 5 more milliliters of pant per jar, for about a dollar less a jar. If you based it on performance of paint, they are identical.

5ml more exactly, 17ml per bottle instead of 12ml. I'm slowly switching to them, liking them more if only for the bottle. Here they're about the same per pot, but you get more, and hey, the paint seems nicer to me at least. But lots of shaking!

Richer pigment.

However, you will still require GW foundations and washes as an equivalent is not available from VGC.

VGC also does a range of inks. I have the main 6 and they are quite a pleasure to use. I painted an entire mini as a dare in only inks and white primer/highlights. It was the Malifaux Ice Golem.

I'm not asking about the paints themselves. I am asking if you guys would know what company makes them. I like them a lot, but a friend of mine keeps saying that the only thing citadel would do is make the packaging. So coat d'arms was a producer?
Thanks.

Coat d'arms made them years ago when they were in the taller bottles with the white tops but they are supplied by someone else now. Manufacturing paints is quite involved with the consistency of the pigments, GW just package them just like they do with all their hobby materials, they don't make their own glue or knives either. They also don't print their books either, as normal the publisher (GW) is a different company to the printer.

Citadel does NOT produce their own paints for sure. I wish I could tell you the manufacturer but I have forgotten. If you know one of the Redshirts at your GW, ask them to show you the little boxes the paints come in. It has the manufacturer's name on it.
