I'm contemplating my next big side project and I've decided on either a Epistolary/Master of the Librarium or a Reclusiarch/Master of Sanctity for my Imperial Fists

Looking at my incomplete Sternguard Veterans (Pics coming when I remember to), I like the idea of using the Commander's Caped back with the DA vets robed chest, hooded helmet, and the flowing robed legs. I think for either master of the chapter layers of robes and a hood add that seniority feel and help emphasise the monastic nature of not only the Imperial Fists but also the level of discpline demanded of their roles.

My question is, how, if possible, easy is it to sever the legs with robes from the veteran backs and to use them with a standard marine torso? I'm fairly crap at most conversions so I'm still pretty much in the basic mix'n'match plastic bitz level of skill, if this is too fiddily to do I'll just use the DA vet bodies or abandon the project for now.

There are plain robed torsos without the DA icon that would suit your needs.

You'd also end up with a lot of extra bits for about 2x the cost of a metal model that you'd have to struggle with cutting.
