Re:Blood but Glue

Yeah don't use PVA.

Years ago i did what (i think) you are describing by getting some epoxy glue i.e. Araldite and mixing it with a very small amount of red oil paint and an even smaller amout of blue oil paint... (the same kind that artists use).

It takes a bit of trial and error to get the ratios right but it looks great when you do... plus it drys solid.

Another benifit is that if you go to a £/$ store and don't use name-brands you can usually pick up the ingridients for next to zip.

FTL

Blood but Glue

Easier method is actually to use a Hot glue gun, touch it to a tooth pick and then string it to another, let it cool a little and then you can attach it between two points if you have to or just have it hanging.

You can then paint over it using your regular acrylics like GW, or you could use the Tamiya Clear Red (an enamel paint, in fact the one you were linked to above) to simulate blood. The paint itself doesn't clot but you can mix it with some other things to make it look similar to clotted arterial blood.

Feforfar wrote:I get you except for the blue and red in the same mix!

Blood isn't red.. it has a deeper hue, this is achieved with a touch of blue... i got the idea from watching a 'making of' doccumentary for some film with lots of fake blood... its what the proefessionals sometimes do.

FTL

Blood but Glue

PLEASE have alook at this guys other thread you will be explaneing it untill you are blue in the face .
@FEFORFAR if your going to ask for advice please search the forums or google it first as you do have a tendency to ask and not listen .
any way it depends on the look you want if its on a weapon then just use ardcoat varnish {the citadel one that is clear and comes in a pot and you use the hairy end of the brush to put it on .and you get it from GW ..just in case you ask !} you mix some blood red and a bit of chaos black in with the varnish untill you are happy with the colour then apply to the weapon . if you want stringy/dripping blood then you can use the GW water efect with paint added and let it thicken {as it dries} then use a cocktail stick to shape it into drips .
or get some clear fishing line cut in to small lengths and glue it to where you want the drips and then add water effect so that is drips down it to give the effect of large drips of blood .

i hope thats idiot proof enough ?
