Best way for a Chaos Army to combat 2-3 Mawloc/Trygon Army?

I'm going to be facing a Tyranid Army with 2-3 Mawloc/Trygons (lets say one of each for simplicity). 1500 points. What's the best way to deal with them? I mean they have a ton of wounds so I worry about going with too much heavy weaponry (especially since I'm sure that will be the first thing the Mawloc(s) will pop up under) since I'm going to need a lot of firepower to deal with the normal stuff. Any suggestions?

plasma guns. Keep your units close together. When they pop out, rapid fire. It's also really hard for such a big model to get any sort of adequate cover and still threaten units.

Units like oblits, chosen, and chaos termies shine in this matchup because of the amount of plasma they can take.

Best way for a Chaos Army to combat 2-3 Mawloc/Trygon Army?

Assault the Mawlocs.

3 attacks at WS3 makes them a real pushover in CC.

Deamon princes will shred them. At WS3 to the DP's WS7 they need 5+ to hit. Just soften them up a bit first. Summoned Greater Deamons work even better against Mawlocs.

Mawlocs are pitiful in CC, any squad with a power fist will eventually grind one down, but I would not recommend doing so unless it's wounded first as 6 wounds will take a while.

On the other hand if he brings Trygon's your are in trouble. Keep in mind those giant nasties are fleet, so don't underestimate their charge range.

Plasma Termicide works well on either of them. Big nasty pops up in the middle of your deployment zone right in the middle of a bunch of icons=safe deep strike for termicide within rapid fire range.

Havocs with ML are also a good anti nid choice. I would not take more than 1 squad against any army as they need to be protected in CC, but a single squad is a great deal. Set up Obliterators on the ground floor of a building, and havocs on the top floor so that the nids have to go through the oblits to get to the havocs. Point for point havocs are better than oblits at gunning down TMC at long range. 4 havoc ML is only a few points more than 2 oblits and the havocs have twice the TMC killing power as 2 oblits

I gotta agree with AC spamm, its damn effective.

Although I did have an amusing encounter where a Mawloc popped up in front of my Khorne Berserkers (whose Rhino was destroryed last turn) and then proceeded to attack them, fail, and torn to shreds.

I ponder however, DP vs Trygon? I wouldn't want to risk my Lashing DP on a Trygon, as the DP is there to ruin the Warriors/any synapse creatures day, cause if they all shift the Synapses away, its alot more fun with the Gaunts.

It might be nice to move around their big guys, but if they're packing alot of Synapse you'll be up against their anti-psyker powers.

I know that I'd personally rather drop the GD and use those points to put useful gear on my Champions. Doom Sirens would be nice for the little stuff and giving the Berserkers a Rhino and Power Fist seems almost manadatory.

The army as a whole seems weak in HtH for Chaos and thats where they're going to hurt you. Its a gamble to try and rely on your shooting to take them down. I'd feel safer just taking Rhino Berserkers with Power Fists over the Noise Marines.

Best way for a Chaos Army to combat 2-3 Mawloc/Trygon Army?

Trygons and Mawlocs can dealt with pretty effectively by a chaos player. Most of the stuff already posted has dealt with shooting them to death, which works very well. I will address the CC way. Lets deal with

Mawloc:
As has been said, these things are not that great in CC. Charge it with berzerkers, make sure you have a PF champ, and you will kill it.
Daemon princes also crush these things.

Trygon:
This is a much tougher model to kill in CC, because it can re-roll to hit and has high strength PW attacks. Its weakness however is only being I4, and lacking an invul save. This thing will eat a daemon prince because it has 6 wounds. So, you need to hit it with 2 daemon princes to make sure you kill it at I5. If you have to hit it with just one prince, it needs to be a nurgle or tzeench prince, or the trygon has a good chance of killing the DP in one round.
Berzerkers can handle these things too, but if you can't kill it on the charge, you will lose half the unit, or more.

So basically, you need to kill these things before they swing by assaulting them with multiple units.

Re:Best way for a Chaos Army to combat 2-3 Mawloc/Trygon Army?

The reason I didn't take any vehicles is because it's going to be an Annihilation game. My friend and I recently got back into 40k after taking a couple years off and we have Tyranid, Chaos, Necron, and Eldar armies, so we are playing a bunch of Annihilation games, then capture type games to get the feel of things again. My thought process was blow as much stuff up as possible as it comes across the board, and use the two DPs, Summoned Daemon, and Berzerkers as close support for anything that deep strikes and/or get across the field without being blown to bits. I went with the Noise Marines and sonic blasters because they are only 5 points per model, assault 2 or heavy 3. They'll provide more shots than a normal boltgun.

As far as the DPs and lash goes, I could switch them out to have Warptime instead, so I can reroll hits and wounds in cc.
